Notice of Potential Interview Waiver Case

Hi! I'm a August 2014 filer. AOS from B2. Went to an infopass appointment and was told I have a PIW. I never received a letter and didn't know that B2 received PIW.

Nor did I. Not even sure what a B2 is, is it a tourist visa? I think that tourist visa applicants have to have an interview as they haven't already been interviewed during the K1 visa process, so something doesn't sound right. Also you can receive a letter as someone did in Feb and still get an interview as they subsequently did for April!

In my observations, all B-2 marriage to AOS are interviewed. And you probably will be. B-2 marriages are a big red flag...What appears to be happening is that the NPIW letter has become a garbage heap for storage of any type. Offloading the local FO to make their numbers look good. Remember when your stuffed in a file draw and are not on the radar, you don't exist to the outside world...Boy don't our numbers look so good -- where's my bonus...

Ugh. It was supposed to be within 20 minutes according to the robot - I waited 50 and then called back, now the wait has increased to 121 minutes!!

It is what comes first the chicken or egg, in this case the Tier 2 call or the GC! Rolling my eyes but I am not surprised in the slightest, what would surprise me would be to see 10 consecutive approvals in one day!

Removal of Conditions..  TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK

Time to reset the tick tock clock again.   Roll my eyes.

Try getting in the shower - I always get a call back as soon as I get in the shower.

Sure enough, I tried to go to the bathroom and right as I was about to sit down I had a callback on call waiting.

He told me my EAD is definitely approved, but the card hasn't been produced yet and that I should still go to the biometrics appointment.

I then asked about my I-485 and he would only recite the response from my last service request, and refused to give any more info.

Humph.

2013 7/15 I-129F sent, 7/18 received Dallas lockbox, 7/22 NOA1, 10/22 NOA2, 11/15 NVC Case Created, 11/20 NVC Shipped, 11/25 Consulate received, 11/28 Packet 3 received/returned, 11/29 Medical, 12/9 Packet 4 received

2014 1/9 Interview - Approved, 1/15 CEAC - Issued, 1/17 Visa in hand, 2/5 POE: LAX, 4/4 Married!, 4/8 AOS/EAD/AP filed, 4/14 NOA1, 5/7 Walk-in biometrics, 5/19 EAD/AP approved (expedited), 5/22 EAD/AP mailed, 5/23 EAD/AP received, 7/29 Interview waiver letter

2015 4/13 AOS approved (no interview), 4/22 Green card received

2017 1/17 I-751 ROC filed (VSC), 1/23 NOA, 2/28 Biometrics

2018 1/31 ROC approved

2020 1/14 N400 filed

I'm guessing you've been given incorrect information (perhaps I'm just too cynical) and that when you get there you'll be told you didn't need to attend.

Let's have some fun though. If you do actually have to give your fingerprints I'll donate a dollar for every fingerprint you give to a charity of your choice. If you only have one fingerprint taken I'll donate a minimum of $10 to that charity.

I think you may be right! He said something about fingerprints being good for 15 months (my previous biometrics were taken May 2014) but that I should go just to be safe. It's a 45ish minute subway ride each way to southern Brooklyn so it's a significant chunk out of my day, too.

As I've never called them up I have no idea of the process, what information they ask for when you call etc. but I'm wondering if someone else is calling up and quoting the wrong file number, or if the customer service person is inputting the wrong number for someone else?

@Christina_W -- you will be fine. We are still waiting for my wife's GC, but with the AP card - we have been able to travel. We have taken two cruises and she just got back from the Philippines. We could not use the AP for online checkin, but at the counter the airlines understood what it was. Back at US Customs, most agents know how to handle it. Once my wife was asked for the letter that came with the card, which she did not have with her. Another agent came over and all was fine. So, do not worry - airlines, cruise lines and customs are all use to AP!

Thanks DnR! :)
