Good morning Peeps,

The last couple of days have been very disappointing, hopefully USCIS will make up for it today and tomorrow. Although tomorrow afternoon I am a road trip to Philly, so wont be able to see whats going on until I get to the hotel. Any way I am sending positive vibes out today. Hoping that the USCIS have had there shreddies this morning and copious amounts of coffee.

Good luck everyone, may the GC force be with you!

Here is the thing, a notice that says customer tools online wont be available yesterday or today, perhaps thats why most people had problems logging in yesterday. I have been online though today and yesterday with no problem whatsoever. Some place in Kentucky is closed until noon, not sure what it is, but Ive seen the massive tail backs on the motorway on the news in that area.

It's been said that the US and UK are 2 nations separated by the same language...

King's English:

"...massive tailbacks on the motorway...", including many lorries.

Americanese:

"...another stinkin' traffic jam on the interstate...man look at all those semis..."

I loved my almost 4 months in the UK when I was in the military. London is still my second favorite city. Nothin' beats NYC...

I have never been to NYC. I was going to go for my birthday in Feb but the snow dictated that I couldn't. I can't wait to see it though, one sunny day. I will visit Bloomingdale's (amongst many other things) in memory of my mum, as she always said we would go and visit this dept store, but alas she died before we had the chance.

Yes, we do say lorries! lol

Filed: K-1 Visa Country: Hong Kong
Timeline

Hi,

I'm in NC, on Mar 5, 2015 I received the letter about the potential interview waiver and the approx. 6 months delay.....that really worried me I thought it was something to do with the funding of the DHS that's been on the news recently, then I found this forum.

What's strange is my friend (living 10mins from me) filed for AOS just a week before me and received her GC late Feb 2015, it only took her a little more than 4 months. She was originally on a tourist visa to visit her bf, overstayed a year, got married and then applied for AOS through a lawyer. How come I started way earlier than her, followed the correct steps, yet receive notice for a 6 months delay? Really doesn't make any sense to me.

I was wondering, if I have AP and leave the country for vacation will that be a problem? I'm not sure if the AP can only be used for emergency, studies or work.

In case my case is forgotten, how do you get in contact with the department/person actually handling the case? I've read about incidences where people spoke to a higher level officer or could expedite their case. When I call I can only reach people who are repeating exactly the same case status that I have access to online already and it can be a 30min wait to actually speak to a person.

I'd greatly appreciate any insight on this!! :)

Oct 2014 filed for AOS

Mid Feb 2015 received my EA and AP combo card

Unfortunately you will be way down the pecking order when it comes to the issuance of a GC. You say that your friend came on a tourist visa, overstayed and now has her GC. Well I don't know much about the case, but I can say this, this would have set off red flags and subsequently, most likely an interview?!?! Once someones gets an interview they tend to go straight to the front of the queue. I and my fellow vjer's find this highly unfair, when we have done everything the legal way and are now being penalised for it.

There are people on this thread that have had the letter you received since May, so you might be in for the long haul here.

As for AP it is not just for emergencies, its for being able to come and go out of the country to visit relatives etc. I used mine a month after getting and spent 6 weeks with my son at Christmas and the New Year and had no problem leaving or coming back into the country. So yes it for vacation, not emergencies.

I hope this clarifies it all for you and WELCOME to the thread.

Holy moly it's a miracle! I got a response to my service request! Here's what USCIS had to say about my case:

What We Have Done

USCIS has reviewed your Service Request. According to USCIS records, your application is still pending. At this time, we anticipate you should receive a decision or other notice from USCIS within 90 days of this notice. Please be advised that posted processing times are goals based on Field Office averages. These goals are subject to change and can vary from office to office. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by delays in processing.

I don't know why my timeline doesn't show up on here but we filed AOS 3/27/14, NOA 4/4/14 and NPIW 7/10/14. We just sent out the EAD renewal last week, so maybe we'll get the GC before the new combo card. I imagine we should get the GC this month, as it will be a year by the end of the month. I'm just amazed we got a response, as I never heard anything back from my last service request!

I hope you hear news shortly as it will be a year since you sent it off. You are definitely one of those that should be in the front of the queue. Fingers crossed! :)

Totally agreed......I might be wrong coming with K1 and wait for K1 to be approved for 8 months then waiting for AOS for no end. If I came with tourist visa, my GC would be in hand since 2013. :ranting:

Hello all. Today my husband's case status updated to new card production. We have been waiting since March 2014 (NOA of March 10) so it's just 5 days shy of a full year. We received the notice for potential waiver on June 27, 2014. I filed a service request online last week and was waiting on a response. Hopefully everyone will get their cards soon!
