This absolutely sucks. I kind of want you to write to the office manager and ask why other people in the same position don't have to get new vaccination sheets done, but what's the point. I'd roll over and pay but it's so frustrating!

So your case has gone to the Yakima field office and you live in Los Angeles, huh? These NPIW cases really do get about, don't they! At least yours is on the right side of the country, I suppose.

I know! I'd love to write, but why bother? It's strange about the whole Yakima thing - my service request clearly ended in LAC. So either it moved from LA to Yakima (why?) or we're wrong about those three letters actually indicating where our cases are.

Wait so you have to do the vaccinations that were required for the K-1 interview all over again?

Well, I definitely have to provide the same paperwork. Hopefully showing the US civil surgeon my AUS paperwork with all the tick marks will mean just a copy and paste job. Although it counts as flu season in the US right now, and when my medical was done in Australia it was summer. So I might need that.

Currently trying to find any civil surgeon open on a Saturday morning to even make an appointment for the upcoming week. Leaving quite a few voicemails!

I know! I'd love to write, but why bother? It's strange about the whole Yakima thing - my service request clearly ended in LAC. So either it moved from LA to Yakima (why?) or we're wrong about those three letters actually indicating where our cases are.

The suffix is confusing to say the least. For the most part it designates your closest geographical local field office. For those visa classes that require an interview, this is where they will get it. There are very specific cases that can get interview waivers. Lucky us. Some K-1 cases get culled in the initial screen for some kind of red flag and get the limited "miracle" interviews and rapid GC's. Lucky them. For the rest of us, our cases are privileged to spend beaucoup months leveling chairs or desks or as door stops in a. Kansas City suburb. So even though our cases are stewing near the steers in the cattle feedlots, they will still carry the suffix of your local field office...This may be changing recently as a number in the last 2 weeks were given the MSC suffix designation for Lee's Molehill...

As Derwood said, cases can ultimately go anywhere and you won't know it unless you get a response to a SR or a dreaded RFE with an unusual field office return address or you can convince a Tier 2 agent to tell you. Otherwise you will never know where it is adjudicated. The recording you hear when you call USCIS is not accurate as to location....

Hello, I need some help filing for renewal for my wife's EAD/AP card. On form I-765 question 11 it states Have you ever before applied for employment authorization from USCIS? I know the answer is "YES". But which office should I be putting down? The office in where she took the biometrics or some other office? Thanks for your time. Hopefully people with 07-29-14 NPIW letters start getting approved soon. I'll be mailing out th w renewal on March 9 since that is 120 from the EAD/AP card expires.

I feel my blood boiling. Passed my learners permit test but was told they can't verify me in the system and handed me a piece of paper saying "Additional Department of Homeland Security Verification Requested". It could take 30 days. I don't understand why they couldn't verify me? All my aos and EAD stuff is in my married name.

That's weird. Over the border in NY they used my wife's SS card as ID verification. What it says is that the state of PA doesn't trust the Federal government. Do ya blame 'em...

Well here's another reason why this legal limbo is more than just a case of "cooling your jets"...

Same thing happened to me for my drivers licence, and I didn't even change my name. I can't remember how long it took but it was less than 30 days. I am in a different state though.

Wow and I was just saying to my husband it's time we applied for it again, get the medical done etc.... How to make us feel welcome in America hey. We aren't from Mars, we don't have five heads, we aren't criminals, our only crime was to fall in love with an American or someone who resides in America. However, I am not feeling very welcome right now and this just goes to make us feel that we don't belong any where right now! SMH yet again!

Removal of Conditions..  TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK

Time to reset the tick tock clock again.   Roll my eyes.

Men are from Mars, women are from Venus. NPIW cases might as well be from Pluto.

A little advanced warning - this will be a lengthy rant.

As you can see from my timeline:

POE: 01/23/14

Married: 02/28/14 (yes, anniversary tomorrow)

NOA: 04/03/14

EAD/AP: 06/13/14

NPIW: 07/10/14

My congressman got involved over the new year, and I was told 10 days ago I would have some sort of decision in four weeks.

Today I get home from a lovely week long anniversary getaway in Yosemite. Feeling good. I see a letter from the USCIS - no email about a GC, but hey, USCIS is not always on the ball about emailing me. And when I open it I get this:

Your application to adjust status has been transferred to the Yakima Field Office for completion. After review, USCIS is ready to GRANT your application - HOWEVER - you must first complete page 5 (included) of Form I-693 (Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record). Please complete with a USCIS Civil Surgeon as soon as you can. Upon return of your updated form, I will approve your application and request a Lawful Resident card for you.

Yes, it is good that I have at least some contact from the USCIS. I get that. However, it is currently after 5pm on a Friday (and I only got the letter fifteen minutes ago). The only civil surgeon in my area open has no bookings until March 24th. Then I'll have to wait for my paperwork, re-send it, and wait from approval (fingers crossed). Plus pay $300. And probably a flu shot, which I didn't need the first time as it was during the Australian summer.

I did my Medical exam in Australian Nov 2013. So yes it has expired, although I filed in March/April, so I thought the one year deadline didn't count for us. WRONG.

Also, my service request ended in LAC. I live in LA. The Tier One said my file was in LAC (though I never trusted that). WRONG (it's in Washington).

Oh, did I add I'm leaving the country in seven days for my Dad's wedding? Great timing on all of this.

Rant complete. Thank you for listening/reading.

Wow-- that sucks!! I mean, at least you know you're getting your card.. but still! Though I am curious, did you send a Form I-693 in with your AOS package originally? I remember I was back and forth with it since every post I read said that K1 applicants technically don't need to send one in since their medical has a complete year till it expires (and most AOS cases finish well within that time). I still had a bad feeling in my gut about it and decided to see a Civil Surgeon to fill out the form i-693 anyways to send in with my AOS.

Hi Everyone,

My I 485 case as below, can someone predict my green card day?

5/30/2014 They received my fingerprint fee

6/30/2014 Complete biometrics

8/11/2014 Received EAD card

Didn't receive PIW letter.

But on 2/18/2014 Immigration Services Officer replied the congresswoman's email saying that my case is identified as a "possible interview waiver" case.

In the email, the ISO says "The interview waiver cases are being shipped to the local USCIS field offices or adjudication based on field office capacity and not necessarily office of jurisdiction."

On 2/25/2014, my lawyer emailed me saying that she called and my case is currently in the NYC filed office. She asked that I can either do infopass to get more info or just wait for the interview notice...

(very confusing...do I or do I not have to do the interview???!!!)

But at least I got some news from the congresswoman and my lawyer...(even though I am still very confused.)

Anyone has any idea?

5/07/2014 Got Married! F1 student with OPT

5/30/2014 I485 fingerprint fee received

6/30/2014 Biometrics done

7/30/2014 OPT Expired

8/11/2014 EAD card approved

2/18/2015 Immigration Services Officer told my congresswoman that my case is PIW

2/23/2015 My lawyer said my case is in NYC field office (not sure if it's true)
