Notice of Potential Interview Waiver Case

Well on a different note, i'm finally going to take my EAD to the local PA drivers license center to get my Drivers Learners Permit on Saturday :dancing::content::blush: I hope I don't have issues getting it (i.e. someone who doesn't know what an AOS applicant is and makes me get verified....)

Has any AOS'er had issues getting a DL with their EAD?

Here in California, my husband took his EAD,passport, valid Canada drivers license, birth certificate and Social security card. He took the written (they give you a temporary license) and then on a different day did the actual driving test and that was it. The license is only valid as long as your EAD. When you get your green card you have to go back into the DMV and update the drivers license with a new expiration date that matches up with your green card.

I had no issue, though shortly after marriage and SSN etc. (before I had applied for AOS), I got a state ID card, that was more of a pain in the butt since they had to verify all of my documents (I had to provide passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate, I-94 and something else that I can't recall at the moment). Kentucky doesn't recognize out of country DL so I had to start over as a new driver.

perhaps a doctors report?

I know this has been mentioned before, but on the EAD renewal form what did you guys put for 'Current Status', should I put 'Adjusting Status to Permanent Residant'? Also what Category, I remember someone saying c something.. I just want to make sure I've got this correct

They don't redo a driving test in PA, if you have a driving licence from another country, like Germany etc that drive on the same side of the road as the USA. As the guy said there if I had been from France, Germany etc, I wouldn't need to retake my driving test, but I guess every state is different.

You need to google what documents you need, I am sure but cant be definite I took my i94 too, certainly need your AOS noa1

Don't need my I94 as it's expired. Just need SS Card, passport, EAD, 2 proofs of PA residency, AOS I797. There's a list here: http://www.dmv.state.pa.us/pdotforms/fact_sheets/pub195nc.pdf

Also the physical costs $50-$115 depending where you go. The cheapest I found as $45 and the most expensive was $115 at CVS.

05-18-2022: Filed N-400 online. Received online NOA and Biometrics re-use.

06-03-2022: Interview scheduled (online notice).

06-10-2022: Interview letter received via USPS.

07-11-2022: Naturalization Interview

Interesting as we took both my husbands son for a medical for their driving licences, one has since passed. They aren't on his insurance as they live in Philly and it cost $20 each time. It was a walk in clinic, let me find out what it was called. Also, if you're a new driver you will have to have 100 hours of learning to drive behind you.

Thanks for that. No I won't need 100 hours. It's 65 Hours and only applies to Learner permits for those under 18 years of age. If you are above 18 years of age, there is no hour requirement.

From the PA Driver's Manual: "If you are under 18 years of age you must wait the mandatory six (6) months from your permit issue date and have a signed Parent or Guardian Certification Form (DL-180C) for the 65 hours of skill-building before making your road test appointment."

No I don't. I didn't go through with it, I havent driven here, although I have an international licence. What will happen is this. You will go to the place if its like the place I went too. There is a ticket machine, take a seat, sit down and wait ages, always a queue. You finally go up to the desk give them the necessary documents, they then will give you an eye test and if you have been revising you can take a theory test on a computer. I think there are 15 questions. Now if you already have a driving licence from your home country and you drive on the same side of the road as the states you don't need to take the driving practical test, However they will tell you to go to a doctors and get a medical. Cost about $20, you can do this before you go, save time. They should issue you a driving licence if you already drive, (on the side of the road they do) have the doctors report and pass the theory test.

Hey Shell, I guess they do different things in different states. Here, you dont need a medical, but your have to take the eye test and a driving test even if you drove on the same side of the road. Weird huh? lol

Ha well don't tell my husbands son's that one has passed his test and done 100 hours, the other is in the middle of taking lessons, both under 18, but I think 100 hours or more is needed, as the first one already has had a minor crash! And yes my husband confirmed Med express.

I will call med express! Thanks for that! Also was the $20 with insurance or without?

I had my DL in Australia but it expired 18 months ago so I haven't been driving since October 2013.

I keep putting mine off, first I have to go for a medical, then I will probably have to redo my eye test at the driving centre, then I have to answer 15 questions, but if you get around 8 right, the test stops and you have passed, then I have to take a test, including parallel parking and that's what I dread in my husbands car, it's way bigger than I am use too, so for now he is my chauffeur, until I decide I want to put myself through it all! I haven't taken a driving test for 25 years and it mortifies me!
