I'm glad I found this forum for my I-129F, although we did get an attorney to do that one. The AoS was done purely using the guides here and so far things have worked out fine.

I'll be sticking around for a long time here.

We also had an attorney for our K1 and we got stuck into an agreement for them to do our AOS, but they kept giving us information we questioned and we ended up parting ways. Then someone from visa journey stepped in and helped us fill all the forms out. If it wasn't for her, then we would have probably been lost. It was amazing how someone we didn't know could do that for us and take out the time to do it. We are forever indebted!

I am glad you're sticking around! I will be too and try and help all the "newbies", even when/if I receive that elusive card!

It's a good sign for sure because when I've made SR's online they wait till literally the last day of the 30 day period to even get assigned, then obviously I get NO response at all, literally nothing. but this Tier 2 one has been assigned within a week of me doing it, and I believe he said I should hear back from it by march 7th... although he said it might be a generic response but hey at least I know I tried

Hopefully things will now move for you with a Tier 2 looking at it. Did you ask him where your case was? Knowing where your case is helps an awful lot, then you know its not rotting at NBC.

We were also thinking about getting an attorney with my husband for K1, but then I found this forum and all the information needed was here. I told him what we need to do, he then went to the attorney and the attorney said that "you guys are 90% done, there is nothing for me to do here" hahahah

So thank God to this forum and all the kind people willing to share the information.

Unfortunately no, Queens office is so busy that the closest day they have is March 30th. I figured it won't make sense right now. Hopefully the GC will arrive before that

Has any AOS'er had issues getting a DL with their EAD?

I think most people are OK once they have their EAD although I'd still go loaded with paperwork if I were you, passport, social security card, etc etc.

The DL will expire on the same date as your EAD card.

Good morning everyone!

I went for a drivers licence in PA before I applied for AOS and after getting married, they were fine about it. They wanted my passport, ssn, old drivers licence etc.

I had an eye test and such and they told me to go for a medical. I knew this would happen as my husbands sons were/are taking their driving test/lesson. Any way not been for it yet, not taken the theory test yet, or taken the driving test. Apparently because I am from England and we drive on the RIGHT side of the road, (right meaning the way it should be, not meaning which side we drive on) I have to retake my test although I can drive on an international licence for a year.

I must admit I keep putting off driving as I guess I find it rather overwhelming driving back to front!

Any way they do have guidelines to follow at the centres and if they don't know they ring up an enquiry line, so don't worry!

No I don't. I didn't go through with it, I havent driven here, although I have an international licence. What will happen is this. You will go to the place if its like the place I went too. There is a ticket machine, take a seat, sit down and wait ages, always a queue. You finally go up to the desk give them the necessary documents, they then will give you an eye test and if you have been revising you can take a theory test on a computer. I think there are 15 questions. Now if you already have a driving licence from your home country and you drive on the same side of the road as the states you don't need to take the driving practical test, However they will tell you to go to a doctors and get a medical. Cost about $20, you can do this before you go, save time. They should issue you a driving licence if you already drive, (on the side of the road they do) have the doctors report and pass the theory test.

I had no issue, though shortly after marriage and SSN etc. (before I had applied for AOS), I got a state ID card, that was more of a pain in the butt since they had to verify all of my documents (I had to provide passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate, I-94 and something else that I can't recall at the moment). Kentucky doesn't recognize out of country DL so I had to start over as a new driver. :ranting:
