At the beginning of Feb we had a service request done for an administrative error in our case because of the long delay. I was told I would hear back by Feb 4th. We got all excited and low and behold we heard nothing back. I logged in early this morning to USCIS.GOV like I do every morning, and nothing had changed. I just logged in now and I have this:

Okay so I decided to give them a call, got through to a Tier 2 for the first time EVER, He asked me if Id filed a SR before and I said yes and they sent me a decision according to my online tracking, guess what, he told me "They never answered it thats why you never got a response" So I guess I was seriously waiting for a ghost letter... anyways he's put an SR in for me and said they have to respond as a tier 2 did it, and I decided to ask if he could tell me where my case was and he said no, his response was something like "Oh well you're still in processing but you're in Texas and thats a border state so they are behind"

I now have As of February 20, 2015, your Filing Question, referral number WKD-----DAL, is currently not assigned for processing.

What does the WKD mean at the start there, something to do with Workload maybe? Never seen that on any of my SR's before

WKD is just a designation they use for naming Service Requests when you call USCIS. You can call USCIS at 800-375-5283 and using option 1-2-2-4-1. When you get an L1 ask them your status and any specific question like "does my file have all the documents required for my approval?". Then they will transfer you to an L2 officer and you can request them to open an SR. They will give you an SR number which starts with WKD followed by a series of numbers and letters. You can use this number to reference in your future calls to them to follow up.

Oh and I should also mention he told me it should be answered by March 7th

Shell that's how I got through in the first place, I said that I wanted to make an Infopass but needed to know where my case was, that's the only way she was gonna put me through, it's like getting through a maze before they'll transfer you

For future reference, I was told by a Tier 1 Supervisor that Tier 1 should not deny Tier 2 transfer unless the calls are closed. She told me it was as easy as saying get me to Tier 2 and they should do it.

I just typed the following into a memo for a new employer. Over optimistic?

"My application to become a permanent resident is awaiting adjudication at the US Citizenship & Immigration Service. Once this is approved I will become a ‘permanent resident’ and will be issued a permanent resident (green) card. I expect this to occur by June 2015 at the latest and I shall submit a new I-9 at that time. If my permanent residency has not been approved by then I will be sent another Employment Authorization Card which will extend my authority to work by a further year.

I attach a copy of Form I-797C which proves I have submitted an application to become a permanent resident".

What else can you tell them? If you told them the truth that you are being held hostage by a rogue agency of the government and are undergoing prolonged water torture and deprivation, they'd never believe you. I guess it's ok to lie a little...

Good job getting through to Tier 2, Natonstan. I've been a bit luckier and have managed to speak to Tier 2 twice now. Both officers were able to quickly and easily able to confirm that my case is still gathering dust at the NBC.

Speaking to these immigration officials is like paying Russian Roulette, with the gun cylinder loaded with BS.

What else can you tell them? If you told them the truth that you are being held hostage by a rogue agency of the government and are undergoing prolonged water torture and deprivation, they'd never believe you. I guess it's ok to lie a little...

I'm so frustrated by the process right now. I'm about three weeks out from the six months from the NPIW date of 10th September 2014 and I have held off from doing anything - filing service requests, contacting the ombudsman or congressman - I had hoped at least to see some progress on the application.

I can't even see my I-485 application online as it's in the National Benefits Centre (MSC) and the website can't find the application. If it wasn't for the NPIW I received I would be wondering had my application disappeared into a black hole in the basement!

I will be filing a service request on March 10th. My NOA1 was June 3, 2014.

What worries me is that my EAD is only good through August 10th 2015. If it is not resolved I will have to:

(1) Apply for an EAD/AP combo card (don't have AP currently) on April 10th 2014

(2) Renew my Driving License once replacement card is received (have to do this anyway)

(3) Do a replacement I-9 for work.

It's really really disheartening to see this take so long. And while I'm happy for anyone who got the green card, given the cost of the K1 and AOS fees I do feel like I am being penalised simply because I jumped through the hoops and provided everything they asked for first time. I even got a local USCIS approved doctor to re-do the vaccination supplement before I sent the AOS and included it in the packet.

Rant over...

I guess I'm just feeling a little twitchy today.

A wild irishman, good to see that flag in here, I was born in Ireland but my parents carted me off to England at a young age unfortunately
