Great find Derwood! So although she is near NJ her case is LAX and a RFE a year later, great, wonderful service and speed! I feel like one of those nodding dogs from the Churchill advert. Constantly shaking my head in utter disbelief!!

I just spoke to my lawyer

She says she's good friends with the main supervisor at SFV local office n that I shouldn't have to wait past 15th of next month

Not sure how legit that info is but will see

Thats Fantastic!! We are through the SFV office also! If I remember right, your dates are pretty close to ours. Do you think that would mean others, like us, with the same dates could look forward to that also???

I often wonder what's going through there heads when I see an RFE, surely if they're THAT backlogged they wouldn't be looking for the smallest, most stupid thing to prolong the process even more on a case

Great to have a lawyer who is buddies with a supervisor, but I can't see your timeline so no idea how long youve been waiting? Can you clarify to other's so they can have an estimated waiting time?

At least that's what she claim "to be friends with her"

As far as I know there are no big delays with K1 issuance, in fact someone sent off their forms in Jan and already has their noa2 ready to book in for a medical and interview. So you shouldn't have such a long wait. The wait for AOS however is now up to a year, hence this very, very long discussion.

As far as USCIS working hours, holidays, sick pay etc, it sounds very much like working conditions in England, so no shockers there for me personally!

I believe that that person was either handled at the California service center, or got an expedite for some reason. According to VJ data, California is processing K-1s who filed 3 weeks ago (end of January) while Texas has yet to start August (28 weeks)!

I didn't realize that AOS had gotten so out of control (possibly same reason you didn't realize how bad K-1s at TSC have gotten). Just more fun to look forward to, but at least we'll be able to wait for it together rather than those poor CR1 folks. Where does your paperwork go for that? I'm wondering if there is something very seriously amiss at TSC. We've been in communication with some national journalists, and I believe that at least one has started to interview folks for an upcoming article, specifically about service center timeline disparities.

Marriage/ AOS Timeline:

23 Dec 2015: Legal marriage

23 Jan 2016: Wedding!

23 Jan 2016: "Blizzard of the Century", wedding canceled/rescheduled (thank goodness we were legally married first or we'd have had a big problem!) :sleepy:

24 Jan 2016: Small "civil ceremony" with friends and family who were snowed in with us. December was a bit of a secret and people had traveled internationally and knew we *had* to get married that weekend, and our December legal marriage was nothing but signing a piece of paper at our priest's kitchen table, without any sort of vows etc so this was actually a very special (if not legally significant) day. (L)

16 Apr 2016: Filed for AOS and EAD/AP (We delayed a bit-- no big rush, enjoying the USCIS break)

23 Apr 2016: Wedding! Finally! :luv:

27 Apr 2016: Electronic NOA1 for all 3 :dancing:
29 Apr 2016: NOA1 Hardcopy for all 3
29 Jul 2016: Online service request for late EAD (Day 104)
29 Jul 2016: EAD/AP Approved ~3 hours after online service request
04 Aug 2016: RFE for Green Card (requested medicals/ vaccination record. They already have it). :ranting:
05 Aug 2016: EAD/AP Combo Card arrived! (Day 111)
08 Aug 2016: Congressional constituent request to get guidance on the RFE. Hoping they see they have the form and approve!

K-1 Visa Timeline:

PLEASE NOTE. This timeline was during the period of time when TSC was working on I-129fs and had a huge backlog. The average processing time was 210+ days. This is in no way predictive of your own timeline if you filed during or after April 2015, unless CSC develops a backlog. A backlog is anything above the 5-month goal time listed on USCIS's site

14 Feb 2015: Mailed I-129f to Dallas Lockbox. (L) (Most expensive Valentine's card I've ever sent!)

17 Feb 2015: NOA1 "Received Date"
19 Feb 2015: NOA1 Notice Date
08 Aug 2015: NOA2 email! :luv: (173 days from NOA1)

17 Aug 2015: Sent to NVC

?? Aug 2015: Arrived at NVC

25 Aug 2015: NVC Case # Assigned

31 Aug 2015: Left NVC for Consulate in San Jose

09 Sep 2015: Consulate received :dancing: (32 days from NOA2)

11 Sep 2015: Packet 3 emailed from embassy to me, the petitioner (34 days from NOA2).

18 Sep 2015: Medicals complete

21 Sep 2015: Packet 3 complete, my boss puts a temporary moratorium on all time off due to work emergency :clock:

02 Oct 2015: Work emergency clears up, interview scheduled (soonest available was 5 business days away--Columbus Day was in there)

13 Oct 2015: Interview

13 Oct 2015: VISA APPROVED  (236 days from NOA1)

19 Oct 2015: Visa-in-hand

24 Oct 2015: POE !

15 Dec 2015: Fiance's mother's B-2 visa interview: APPROVED! So happy she will be at the wedding!

Timeline

You feel exactly like me Shell, I can honestly say after being here a year I 100% do not feel like I belong, I do not feel settled, but at the same time I would hate to go back home, I'm at a loss, but all I can do is wait for the elusive green card and hope and pray every day, its such a mess

The whole thing makes me dreadfully homesick and I will admit I have talked to my husband about him living in England, but he can't as he has two teenage son's still at school here, who need him. I don't think the USCIS, help any marriage, or bring families together although they claim to stand for that ideal. I am bitterly disappointed, this time last year I was singing their praises, didn't imagine the long wait for AOS, not in my wildest dreams!

These posts break my heart. My husband also feels the same, very displaced. He left his home, job, car, his whole life. The K-1 visa was hard enough and I thought THAT was a long wait. We have had to go to so many different government offices, taken time off work, sometimes more that once. We had a huge battle with the medical insurance and now have to pay a huge premium every month thanks to the "Obama Care". Which is a shock for him being from Canada and you dont have to pay for medical there as a premium. So it is very important that he can renew his EAD in time and not lose his job. The list goes on. Needless to say, he can agree on how you guys feel, and many times he has said, "for doing everything the legal way, I have not felt very welcomed by the U.S". Very sad.

It's all about compromise. I lived in Mexico for a good part of my then 10 year relationship with my now wife. In my case though I did it because I really didn't have much of a choice. As a same sex couple I couln't do anything at that time but live in Mexico if I wanted to be with her. As soon as DOMA was struck down, I submitted everything for the K1 visa. The K1 visa was my only choice being same sex. I don't think I would consider living in Mexico ever again. As an American Citizen, living in an entirely different country was horrible. I have always been proud to be an American Citizen and will continue to be until the day I cease to exist. I am highly disappointed in USCIS, and this whole waiting game and hold them responsible for the way it has made a lot of people going through the immigration process on this site and elsewhere have a negative perspective of this great country. I have the outmost respect for all of you, including my wife, for having the courage and patience in dealing with this process. I can only pray with all of you that this waiting game will soon end and you will all have your green cards in hand and soon become US Citizens and share they same pride that I feel being an American Citizen.

Well. She's wrong, and I'm making her aware that there IS a K-1 delay, and a pretty big one. Her example of someone getting their NOA2 in 3 weeks is more than likely from the CSC, not the TSC which is where the K-1 delay is.

I had no idea there was a delay with K1's, I've just seen two posts on here today which say the process is quick, didnt look to see what service centre they were. Dont be disheartened at this early stage, I noticed you have just sent your forms off so you might be one of the lucky ones who will get a decision within a month too!

Thanks. I'm hoping someone will address TSC's backlog and start diverting recent applicants to CSC, no matter where they live. Barring that, based on where I live, my application will go to TSC and we're looking at an average 6.5 month wait for NOA2. People are (as you may imagine) *beside* themselves over this, which is why we've gotten the national media involved. I would suggest that you organize and try to do the same for AOS. A year for a GC is absurd.

December was a bit of a secret and people had traveled internationally and knew we *had* to get married that weekend, and our December legal marriage was nothing but signing a piece of paper at our priest's kitchen table, without any sort of vows etc so this was actually a very special (if not legally significant) day. (L)
