Well, we've had the NOA2 recently and I'm gathering everything together in preparation for the forms and interview with the embassy in London. I'm waiting for a new passport, because my current one runs out in June, and a new birth certificate because the one I have is a shortened one, which I didn't realise! I was going to head off to the local police station on Saturday to arrange for a Police Certificate, but I realised that I've (fairly) recently had a CRB check. This is dated 5 October 2006. Is this okay instead? I'm thinking I should probably get a Police certificate anyway to be on the safe side.

Also, I wondered what the procedure for getting the medical done is? Can I arrange that now, or should I wait for the embassy to contact me with all the forms and the checklist and stuff?

Do I have to have an I-134 from my fiancee for the interview too? In the instructions on the embassy website it talks about the I-864 not being needed, so I'm a little confused.

And is there any chance I can ask for a specific date/s for the interview, since my fiancee is planning to be here from the 19th January for about a week? It would be great if she could be at the interview too!

A police certificate is required for the interview - not CRB, it's stupid really because the CRB has so much more information on it.

I had both as i needed my CRB for work. It's good to have in the US too

Hope this helps

You'll want the I-134. You and I sound like we're around the same timeline because these are all the same questions we've been asking the last few days! ;) Adam just applied for his police report today.

http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/iv/faffidavit.html Should be able to explain to you what they need and why they want the 134 versus the 184.

Sorry I can't answer the question about the medical and interview-- I am curious to see the answer to the medical question though as we're hoping (as tight as it seems) to get him here by the beginning of March, so we want to get everything done as soon as possible.

Re: your medical. You can arrange this once you have received your packet 3 from the US embassy as this contains a medical questionnaire that you need to fill out and take to the medical. Packet 3 also gives you instructions on how to book your medical with Knightsbridge Doctors who are the solely appointed medical practitioners for this purpose.

I had mine last Friday 1st Dec. I suppose technically you could phone up and arrange the medical now - just by looking up their number and calling them but its probably sensible to wait for your packet 3 to arrive which explains it all.

When I phoned up the doctors they were able to offer me an appointment the same week so hopefully you won't have to wait long to get yours after your packet 3 has arrived.

My opinions may have changed, but not the fact that I am right.
