Hello and thank you in advance, this seems like a pretty helpful forum.

My fiancé and I live in Japan where I am stationed. In December I will rotate to Washington, so we are going through the K-1 process now. I believe I have all the paperwork, and we should be goof to go in the aspect. My question concerns addresses. I have my address in Japan which will no longer be my address in December. I don't have a residential address in Washington yet. I DO have a residential address in Chicago where I grew up. Can I submit my K-1 package before I am living in the United States? We're trying to get this in ASAP so our time apart is bearable.

In summary:

I live overseas currently. Will I be able to submit our K-1 package before I PCS(permanent change of duty station) to Washington, without a residential address in Washington?

Thanks in advance, again. Any and all information at this point is a major help. And we really appreciate it.

My fiance also in military but we don't have a problem like yours since we were both waited until he transferred to Key West, Florida. But, just my thought, you can apply now as using your old address since it would be no longer in December anyway. You still have a plenty time to do that.

When you are finally moved call them to inform about your new address due you've been transferred to new unit. Or you can try expedite your case. I hope it helps, good luck!

Also, questions 15.A through 15.H on the current I-129F....She was in the states a few years ago as a student. Do we still fill out 15.A through 15.H? Seems like a lot to N/A.

If you want to spend a little bit time here, try to search military K-1. You would surprise to find a lot of them. Good luck!

Yeah! This place is great. I found it while searching for an example I-129F. Now we're nearly halfway done with the entire thing. Just trying to figure out 15.A-15H.

Thanks some more!

My fiance used his home address in San Diego instead of where he is currently stationed. I suggest you use the Chicago address, but I hope someone is there to pick up any hard copies that they will send to you.

That's what we've decided to do, as well. My father lives there, and will surely handle any hardcopies that come his way. I was just worried about the confusion it might cause whoever is reading my case. Filed from Japan, living in Washington, with a mailing address in Chicago. That's a lot to follow.

Thanks!

Sounds good. You don't need any worried about it since many people already have been through like your case. Some military active members who filed their I-129F were succesfully expedited their case and make it faster. If you wish to do so, It is no harm to try.

I see why you are confused about the 15ish questions. They are asking you to fill it out if your fiance is currently in the states. If she isnt coming with you to Washington, you probably should leave it blank. Sorry it took a while to answer, I used a different form when we submitted our K1 petition

No worries at all, thank you very much! Everything on this form is just worded strangely. Though, I'm in the military. No paperwork is written worse than the government's!

Don't mention it. Keep posted anything and don't forget update your timeline after you sent out your I-129F so other people can see it. Thank you.rose.gif

You're welcome! We didn't get much help from his CO's and had to do everything on our own so I'm more than glad to help other couples. After you fill them out don't forget to recheck everything a billion times. There have been so much delays just because of a box left unchecked or a form left unsigned tongue.png
