We met 2 years and 3 months ago, and we are not sure yet on what we are going to do, but I want to evaluate all possible options, including the K1 visa.

"Declaration of how you met in person in the last two years."

Does it means that if you met the person more than 2 years ago you can't apply for a K1 visa?

I don't get it.

Can somebody tell me, because I find that scary.

Thanks

The gov't just wants to know that you have met in person within the past two years-that's all. They will want a brief explanation.

example.........."we met at a wedding in Aug 2005". Then on a separate page-explain in more detail if you wish-then you will need to explain all the other times you have seen eachother in the past few years. You could have met 12 years ago-they won't care as long as you still have a valid relationship.

Yes, you have had to meet your fiance/e in person within the past 2 years. If the only time you've met was more than 2 years ago, you do not meet the criteria for a K1.

I don't know why that requirement is 'scary'. I'd find it scarier to marry someone I'd not laid eyes on for over two years.

Oh, ok.

I feel stupid. I thought that if you had met more than 2 years ago (for the 1st time) that it wasn't valid.

So really it's only proof of when you've been with each other in the past two year.

Good.

That makes a lot more sense.

Thank you so much.

There are two meanings to the English word "met". One is "initially encountered", and the other is "encountered". They're concentrating on the latter meaning.

You might have known each other for a few months or for your entire lives, it doesn't matter. The law says that, in order to get a K-1 visa, you must have been together in person face-to-face on at least one occasion sometime within two years immediately before filing the petition. Make it clear to them that you've met this requirement (or if you haven't met this requirement, don't bother filing the I-129F until you schedule a visit to meet the requirement).

Don't worry if your first meeting was a long time ago. It's your most recent meeting that has to be less than two years ago.

Cécile,

Where does that quote come from? Because it doesn't come from I-129f Q B.18. Reading the question that's on the form might help make it clearer.

You will need evidence of meeting within the past 2 years, such as receipts, airline tickets..

It may be a good time for you to plan a vacation and visit your fiance, and get new evidence of having been together, pictures, receipts, ect. Bring a completed G-325A form for your fiance to sign, and prepare a letter of intent.

When you return then file the K-1 paper work.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.
