Timeline

Is it just me or does everyone see the problems with many many timelines-

I BELIEVE that there are many misunderstandings as to what some of the milestones are and people are wither marking them before reaching them or skipping many of them along the way--

MOST of the timelines that I get updates about are just not possible accurate.-- MOST, not a few-

any one agree, disagree?

I think what you are seeing is a combination of ambiguouty with regard to how to update and the fact that the timelines you see are self-reported (not indicative of all activity). To the extent people tend towards reporting good news (fast cycle times) the timelines you see are not indicative of true overall processing times. All this in the context of an immigration system that is under a lot of stress and change...put simply it's a crapshoot.

Like what is not accurate about them? I guess not understanding what is the issue. You have some I-130's approved in 45 days you have some sitting for 9 months many a year. It happens. You read alot of peoples stories take a deeper cut you find out alot more than what some say on the surface.

*** Unanswered duplicate thread removed; this thread moved from CR-1 Process forum to the Site Discussion forum -- topic involves updating of VJ timelines. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Do you think it would be possible to have a "Transferred" kind of field, Captain? Especially given that now a lot of petitions at VSC are just being transferred without being looked at. Or would it be better for people to just put the new service center they've been transferred to in their profile/timeline?

"What's yours is mine!"

Thank you for your hard work. I am concerned with the K3 visa. I goes without saying that any K3 follows after the filing of a I-130. Its not really clear how to enter yourself as a K3 at the start of the timeline process. It would help to see a column with the type of visa that was accepted. I have been trying to understand if the over all time was shorter (even for the I-130) if both were submitted.

Related to timelines but somewhat tangential -- is it possible to add NBC processing dates for I-130 filers? e.g., for "processing dates for common forms" and "IR1/CR1 visa timelines trends" under Visa Timelines & Stats. NBC is supposedly the only relevant office for I-130 petitioners these days, but data shown is for CSC, VSC, and even TSC.

Just an observation- the information available on this website has BEEN AMAZINGLY HELPFUL- and motivating-- I amm not sure of the ramificaions on estimating time frames would be if false reporting exists IF any-- it was just a question- not being critical I am grateful to have this forum and advice available--

but I DO SEE some timelines that seem ....um...... confusing.

thank you all-- I am certain that MY HOPES for a faster approval or hunger for information plays into my interpretations--

this is all valuable and very emotional nformation Kudos to admin

If you understand the nbc process, this is not really the question.. it would be more like adding nbc plus another 50+ local offices.

I would wait until the new facility starts processing them and then fix the website links

Please make it so you cannot put future dates in. Also so that you cannot put words in instead of dates. Also limit the date format so people don't use Euro formats or backwards formats. Also limit it so that all people use / or - to separate the dates, not a mix of the two. Look at this list to see the discrepancies. http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/liftlist.php?cfl=&op5=5,9,10,11,12

It has words, dates in the future for approvals (2014), mix of dating formats.

There are alot of us that dont understand the NBC process. But i do see that there is not alot to go by on the goverment site or here regaurding a I-130. For the most part we get a NBC NOA1 with our number and look for information on when that will turn into a NOA2. The other serivice center stats are confusing if your package went to the NBC as I beleive they all are now.

currently, yes they are still going to nbc

processing up to now is

nbc-wait few months, then routed to your local office for adjudication... very few stay at nbc for adjudication.

by the end of the year.. there will be a new facility for 130's as announced on the uscis web site.

if you give it 2-3 months you can start calling and getting a tier 2 to inquire about a transfer.

it wouldn't surprise me if all 130s at local offices are transferred to the new facility when it goes live.

it is very complicated to understand, but one thing is for sure, it appears that uscis is responding to the huge daca backlog from last year and will have it under control by 2014 (at least temporarily)

I believe I have seen several timelines go from NOA1 to NOA2 in days, or at least thats what they are reporting--

I always assumed this was just people who were putting their text/email notification date for the NOA1 and date of receipt in the mail as the NOA2 date by mistake. The timeframe seemed to fit this.

Met in person for the first time: April 23, 2011 in Docklands, London, UK
Engaged: October 29th, 2012 at the John Hancock Building in Chicago, US

Filed K-1 visa application: April 4, 2013
Received text/email notification: April 12, 2013
Received NOA1 in mail: April 17, 2013
Received NOA2 text/email: August 6th, 2013 (at 9:45pm!)

NVC received packet: August 30th, 2013

Beneficiary rcvd "Packet 3" instructions: September 13, 2013

Embassy rcvd completed "Packet 3": September 24, 2013

Police certificate rcvd: September 27, 2013

Medical Appointment: October 2, 2013

Medical Received at Embassy: October 17, 2013 (delay due to request for further info)

Embassy appointment/Visa Approved!!!: November 21st, 2013

VISA RECEIVED!!!: November 28th, 2013

Beneficiary Arrived!!!: December 5th, 2013

Married December 22nd, 2013

Filing to POE: 8 months, 1 day

Filed AoS application: April 5th, 2014

Received NOA1 in mail: April 11th, 2014 (no text/email)

Received NOA2 in mail: September 2nd, 2014 (still no text/email)
