Hey everyone, I filed the i130 for my husband today in santo Domingo. Everything went very smoothly. I was wondering If there are any members who have recently filed in SD here who can tell me how long I should be expecting to wait. When should I expect the petition to be approved or denied? The officer told me within 90 days, but is it really going to be this long? Thanks

Congrats. Not many people file DCF (it's a great benefit, if you qualify). From what I know the entire process should be complete within 3 months. You can't do any better than that. I wish you two the best.

K1 Visa Process -> 12/09-06/10 Married -> 09/10/10 AOS Process -> 09/10-12/10 Removal of Conditions-> 09/12-07/13

U.S. Naturalization -> 7/8/20

There's not much DCF data on VJ because so few folks are able to do it. From what I've followed, most DCF cases are complete in 3 - 6 months.

Thank you both. I had a friend emailing the embassy asking about DCF, they also qualify. They told them not to expect a cita before Christmas!!! :/ I would be so disappointed.

From what I have heard 60-90 days, but who knows really. I read an article yesterday that someone received approval for a K-1 in 21 days. Perhaps processing times are speeding up? Hope so.

What if a foreign spouse wanted to visit the USA while their application was pending? Would be nice to visit one another during Christmas holiday. Is that possible? Any issues at point of entry in the USA?

I thought K-1's couldn't be done through DCF in the DR... You'd obviously need a travel visa to travel, which you might have a hard time getting if you have a pending I-130, especially from the DR.

Correct. I-129fs for K1 are not available as DCF.

And yes - if you don't already have a tourist/visitors visa (or live in a VWP country) you'll need to get the appropriate visa (which you can apply for while another petition is pending). It can be hard for people get visas after a family-based petition has started, because it's harder to prove you don't have immigrant intent.
