How do you fumble, what was it, 6 times and gift the Broncos, the highest-acoring team in the NFL this season, a 24 point lead at the half and still come out of the game with one more in the "W" column?

Outstanding! kicking.gif

Peyton Manning must really not like Tom Brady. wink.png

The Pats didn't give up. They kept playing after all of those first half turnovers. Interesting stat, going into last nights game, teams that were trailing by 24+ at halftime are 5-485. The Pats became win number 6. And they gave up 224 yards to Moreno to boot. But they pretty much shut Manning down. Another cool tidbit, NE scored their 3 third quarter touchdowns going into the wind. And they one the coin toss in OT and elected to kick so that they'd have the wind with them. I thought Mr. Bill was crazy to give Peyton the ball first in OT, but it all worked out well. A huge win, especially psychologically.

With the new OT rules, it makes sense to go on defence first. A touchdown in OT wins it, no matter what. But a field goal on the first possession does not. As the Pats found out against the Jets earlier in the season, a field goal will only win it after the first change of possession.

As for the psychology, Peyton Manning has a nemesis. And his name is Tom Brady.

I remember in the good old days when Ty Law was here, he had Manning's number too. I think he picked him off three times in one game up here.

As with all good comebacks, it did help that the Broncos started fumbling and turning it over so much the other way in the second half. The Broncos have lost more fumbles than any team in football by a wide margin. As much as they can put up points in a hurry, they can also give them up the same way.

But Peyton has more than his fair share of these when he's facing Tom Brady and the Patriots.

The irony is that Brady has suffered similarly at the hands of Peyton's little brother, Eli, and the Giants. :(
