Hi guys,

I've read everywhere that when you get your approved K1, you also get the famous "sealed envelope" for the POE. Well, I got my visa approved at the GYE consulate, went to DHL today and got my passport. I'm very confused now, because I only got the passport with the K1, no sealed envelope at all! I'm freaking out here! Also, I still have my B1/B2 visa there (valid thru 2015), no void stamp on it. Can any one give me some advice on what to do? I'm very confused! Thanks in advance

the passport is usually attached to the outside of the sealed envelope. You need to contact the embassy ASAP. Did you ask the courier?

I emailed them to nivguayaquil@state.gov explaining the situation. I can't seem to get to talk to a person at all! I went back to dhl, they didn't have anything else. Did your passport and envelope come in the same dhl packate?

*** Thread moved from K-1 Process forum to the Embassy/Consulate forum -- topic involves that phase. ***

(Organizer hat off)

The proper e-mail address begins with iv, not niv. You're dealing with the Immigrant Visa (iv) unit.

The ####### Guayaquil consulate strikes again, sigh man...

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

TBone is correct! It's the immigrant visa unit you need to email. I recieved one big DHL package. Inside in a plastic envelope was my passport opened in the visa page and the brown sealed package.

I got my passport in a small DHL envelope, like a tourist visa. The woman at DHL looked very confused and kept telling me about residents and stuff, I told her I was not a resident, this is a different thing and I was suposed to get everything together. I guess I'll wait till 8 when they start "working" at the consulate to try to reach for an actual person to talk to me! I hate the freaking automated system!

DHL has nothing to do with this... It's the embassys fault. Have you called 04-2596800? Call, explain your case and ask to talk to a supervisor or someone who can help you. The people that answer are not helpful at all and have no idea of where they're standing. You need to insist to talk to someone else.

QUICK UPDATE!

My fiancee called a US number associated with the GYE consulate today at 8 am, we had an ANGEL who was nice enough to help us, she immediately talked to her supervisor, she told us if today by 6 pm we didn't have an answer to our email she'd contact us. At 11 am today, GYE consulate called me, explaining the situation. They said they had been waiting on a paper for my envelope to be ready and they had it all done. Since I don't live in GYE, they gave me the opportunity to have someone I trust to get it at the consulate. Long story short, my uncle now has my envelope, sealed, safe and ready for me to get it next week smile.png It was hell! but now it's been fixed, thank God innocent.gifkicking.gif . I guess this is a heads up for other GYE applicants, expect anything from the consulate and be prepared. I hope this experience will help others, but at the same time I hope everybody else's journey will be smoother!
