Sunshinestate, I feel your pain. And I'm sure it doesn't help when you see other folks on VJ get approved in less than 3 months.

Here is another thread I found about applicants from Miami waiting for interviews since August... Maybe you can compare notes with them? All the best to you.

Hello Everyone.

My SO and I had our interview this morning (some April fools huh?). We arrived 30 minutes early at the Chicago USCIS office. We checked in with the receptionist and we were invited to take a seat. Within 5 minutes our number was called (25 minutes before our scheduled time), and we were escorted to an office with a mid-30 year old man. He sat us down and immediately started going through our application. He verified addresses (we moved), dates, and occasionally asked one of us a question about some detail on the form, e.g. he asked me for my wife's birthday, her father's name, etc.

He went through all of the paperwork for about 20 minutes. He then asked us the story of how we met and took notes as we described our relationship over the past 7.5 years. He did ask if we had any recent photos and documents with our new address on them. We provided joint bank statements, health insurance cards with both names, joint tax statements, our joint lease, car insurance, more photos until he told us he had more than enough info. He asked me (petitioner) if I had any passport photos as he needed 2. We didn't have any photos so he told us to go and get some. We ran around Chicago a bit before finding a place where we could get some photos. After making it back to the office, the receptionist took the photos from me and promised to hand them over to our case officer.

We went to lunch for a pre-celebration since it seemed like everything went well and we were definitely able to show a bonafide relationship for the last 7.5 years. Half way through our lunch we got a text telling us that her greencard was ordered for production.

Done at last! No attorney required. Thanks fellow forum members for helping us out. The guide on this site and other posts really helped us file on our own without needing any outside legal help or the need for an expensive attorney.

Good luck everyone else who is waiting. It's been a long ~6 months and we're glad it ended well.

Congrats!

Was approved the end of January, and had to send my Green Card back the next day as they made mistakes....

Just a heads up if this happens to anyone....GO GET YOUR PASSPORT STAMPED...make an infopass appt and get it done...I had NO IDEA it takes 6-9 MONTHS to get your new replacement card and missed out on a trip "home" waiting and thinking I would get it back asap...

I only found out last week I could go get my passport stamped to hold me over til my card came in....Grrrrrr......
