Hi,

I start by wishing everyone good luck :) I am new here, I need your help please check the following:

- My fiance living in N.J submitted the application on 20th March 2013 through a lawyer

- We provided all the documents as lawyer asked like: pictures, greeting cards, my birth certificate, police clearance from Dubai and Pakistan etc. all original copies

- Last week my fiance got a letter from USCIS asking for more relationship proof, now we're submitting all the chat logs, facebook , skype, her visit details of Dubai and some more pictures including engagement ceremony pictures.

- Lawyer also asked us to arrange wedding venue (how we can do that when we don't have any idea about the dates as we don't know when we are getting the visa ? :/ ) relationship timeline and notarized affidavit.

Is everything is okay and normal? please provide your inputs.

Also my police clearance certificates validity is for 6 months so should I get new ones for the interview?? and my original birth certificate is also required for interview?

You never mentioned if you sent airline ticket stubs (boarding passes), receipts, or passports stamps those would be great evidences too. Having pictures to prove you've been together is one thing, but you have to prove you met within the 2 years of your applications too. I'm guessing this is why they asked for more proof. I'm surprised your lawyer didn't tell you this.

Hi....My fiance submitted our application last May by a lawyer also and we received a text and email yesterday that they transferred our case to their local office after 3 months from USCIS .I am just wondering why your lawyer didn't ask your emails, chat logs,ATM withdrawal,IM,phonebills, boarding passes and a stamp of your passport and photos together before she/he submit to USCIS. Our lawyer asked all these to us and we provided and she did checked everything before she submitted to USCIS

aw, man! you could have totally come here, asked questions, read somethings yourself...and not paid a lawyer. Also, if the lawyer knew what he was doing I can almost bet you would NOT have received an RFE.

First issue - you can get your Police certs now, dates dont matter to the embassy, hell, they DID NOT even take ours, what a waste of money...

issue #2 it's impossible to do this when working with Immigration. your interview can be anywhere from 3-6 months after your NOA 2, pending everything goes well....

Final advise - FIRE the lawyer, and do it your self. a lawyer gives you NO benefit. NONE. ask me anything you need regarding K-1 for Abu Dhabi - we were fianlly approved and my NOW hubby is home smile.png not ONE issue, or hiccup!

Relationship proof...easy - photo's of you two different places / different outfits, engagement announcement, boarding passes, entry/exit stamps, hotel reciepts, Chats, emails, skype screen shots.. ANYTHING putting you two in the same place at the same time.

Front loading is a good thing with Abu Dhabi

There's a list of suggested evidence in the K1 guide:

http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

1. Copies of all airline boarding passes, train passes, itineraries, hotel receipts, passport stamps (make sure you can read the dates on the stamps), and other documentary evidence that you have met within the last two years. You may want to highlight or place post-it notes indicating the dates and locations on the copies (to make the adjudication easier) for the person reviewing your file.
2. Color Photo's of you and your fiance(e) together. Make sure you write your names, date, and location on the back of every photo. Provide two to five photo's. If you only have a single copy of the photo, then make a color copy and send that. If it is a digital photo, have it printed at a local photo store such as Walgreens. Place photo's in a plastic bag or photo sheet and label the sheet. Note that you may not receive originals of photo's back.
3. The following items will not typically show proof of having met in the last two years however will show proof of an ongoing relationship: Copies of land line and cell phone bills, appropriate letters and emails, stamps on the letters (to document the date they were sent), and other written documentary proof. Provide a reasonable amount; two to four of each type. Pick a range of dates up to and including the present. You can also include a copy of engagement ring receipt (this is something that is a big optional - do not worry if you do not have a ring yet!)

Maybe if you can list exactly what you included already, folks can help you fill in the gaps? Thing is - when you use a lawyer, it's hard to know what they definitely submitted.

FIRE the lawyer, and do it your self. a lawyer gives you NO benefit. NONE.

This can't be recommended unless we know every detail of the OP's circumstances. Depending on the situation, a good lawyer can be invaluable.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
