Technology is a beautiful thing. :)

I emailed the consulate this morning at 11:30 to ask if they could email me our packet 4 so we could start making our arrangements instead of waiting for the snail mail in the DR. By 2:30 I had a response with our packet! Counting down the days now until December 5th!!

If you're waiting on your packet 4 email them! So much better than sorting through the appointment list and feeling anxious!

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

Great! Thanks for the news. By any chance did the "Medical Appointment Letter" come in that email? You will need this in order to take your medical prior to the interview.

I'm going to attach the letter, is this the Medical Appointment Letter? Or are we waiting on something else?

Thanks for the letter. That's not the medical letter though. It's the cover page of Packet 4. The medical letter is usually blue. You still need it for the exam.

You will still need to have the blue Medical Appointment letter in hand to have your medical exam taken.

Thanks MrTee12 for always being so helpful!! We will keep waiting for the packet! Since he's in Puerto Plata I'm hoping that it will actually come and won't get lost in never never land.

Can he go pay the Banco Popular fee with the letter that we currently have?

Yes. Unfortunately, the mail system is bad in Dom Rep so he may never get it. So he will need to be "proactive". Both of you really. You can keep calling the NVC number and checking the case status online. He can stop by the nearest post office to see if there is any packet sitting there undelivered. He can also call the the Embassy (within 2 wks of the interview, to pick up a duplicate packet with the medical letter inside.- that is of course the last option).

Thanks MrTee12 for always being so helpful!! We will keep waiting for the packet! Since he's in Puerto Plata I'm hoping that it will actually come and won't get lost in never never land.

No problem. You can pay it whenever, but I would pay Banco Popular fee within 30 days of the interview. You don't want to lose the 2 receipts. You need them for the interview.
