Why does one need a green card to close on a house?

My dear VISA journey friends. At long last, my green card has finally gotten approved. After calling an putting in an inquiry, they sent me an RFE. I received an RFE in the mail April 8th, ( dated March6th- yea right ). And on April 26th, my card was ordered for production.

Hi. So we have the same dilemma.

My wife has booked a trip to Poland in 2 months without me.

Flight ticket (married name), Passport (maiden name), 10yr GC (married name).

Looks like his wife already got a card. So, updating as approved

The doc you submit are insufficient show X name(my wife) as a beneficiary,not co owner of the account.the statement do not show join ownership and transactions made both spouses.Please submit additional evidence and explanations to show that you have commingled your assets and are sharing finances as a married couple...

This is what they write on my rfe..plz what do ya think bout?

The things is I had a sharing account n a account of miself whose benefiacary is ny wife..dat was the mistake

You don't need the green card to close on the house, you have the extension letter so your green card is valid.

FHA borrowers must be of legal age in their state of residence, which is typically 18 in most states. They do not have to be a U.S. citizen, but they must have a valid Social Security number and the ability to legally work in the U.S. The loan file must contain proof of permanent resident alien status, as documented by a satisfactory check with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and a Green Card. Non-permanent resident aliens are eligible only if they are purchasing the home as their permanent residence and have two years' worth of credit history and income, along with assets.

The extension letter is as good as a green card. You should not let them hassle you about it. After all, as per your posted paragraph, they need to check with USCIS right?

Also, based on the last sentence, one need not be a permanent resident provided they have a credit history, etc.
