We got our noa1 today, which basically just says howmuch we paid and that his greencard is extended for one year while we are completing the process. We didn't receive a biometrics appt yet. I'm a little nervous about this, did you all receive biometrics appt. in noa1 or did it come in a second noa?

Also, I'm currently pregnant and we decided to deliver the baby in India due around Christmas, we left a few days ago from the U.S. and don't plan on returning until she is 2 or 3 months old. Does anyone have any info on getting biometrics done at an embassy abroad? Or will I just have to change the date to April 2014 when we return to the U.S.?

I hoped that someone with a more definitive answer would respond to this question. All I can tell you is that when I went for my biometrics appointment today the officer told me that I could have had it done anywhere in the US. His words were "as long as you are not outside the USA ..."

Is someone going to send your NOA1 to you? You will need it in order to get back into the US once the green card has expired.

Yes, we will have the noa1 sent back. So just that paper and his expired greencard works to get back into the U.S. I guess I will just wait for the biometrics appt. and then call them and ask to reschedule or what my options will be.

Interesting article Lollo and good to know! Thanks for sharing. The one part that really got me was this:

I knew we were being charged an arm and a leg! wow.gif

We are being charged what it costs (well almost).. seems fair.

I would argue they could make changes and lower costs but charging enough in fees to cover 95% costs.. Whats to gripe about ?

The only thing we can complain about is they lowered the I-129F from $455 (to $340) right after we filed it, then 2 months later, they raised the K-1 visa cost to from $131 to $350 before the embassy visa interview was scheduled! Only a $334 penalty for bad timing..rofl.gif

Still haven't received NOA and 2-year GC expires on 10/25.

Others have filed after us and received NOA within several days. Should we worry? I just hope it's not lost in the mail and we missed our Biometrics

Did you notice where the check was cashed? Some Vermont filers at the end of August seem to have been transferred to California and that seems to have delayed both the cashing of their check and their NOA1.

I am unable to find out. It was cashed by an "eleccheck" (electronic checking) from my online banking records. I asked my bank's customer service and they said there's no way they can determine.

I'm confused as to why other members received their NOA only 2 days after sending in their applications. Are they notified by email/text as opposed to snail mail?
