Hi everyone we are still waiting for our visa to arrive but as we wait I would like to get any advice of what my fiance should do when it is time for him to travel since I will not be able to travel with him. I know that the brown envelope should be kept seald anything else that he is not allowed to open? What types of questions are asked once he gets to immigration? What forms does he have to fill out on the plane? When does he have to fill out the I-94 form? Any advice would be great. Thanks :)

During my POE in LAX the dude only asked me

1. Purpose of visit/coming to the US

2. Home address

One tip: When lining up...DO NOT USE YOUR PHONE...One tourist was given a hard time by the immigration officer because she failed to immediately follow instructions...

Keep the DO NOT OPEN envelope in his carry on luggage also. They will mention about getting married in 90 days, not too much after that.

The I-94 is not filled out on the airplane anymore, its done electronically, there is a link to the CBP site in my guide.

Should he fill out and print out the I-94 before leaving or after he enters?

It should be filled up and printed after POE .... :)

Regarding the I-94 there is nothing to do until he is HOME, then you can go to the CBP website, enter the required info, then if it's available you can print a copy out and keep inside the passport. I don't know how long after clearing POE that the I-94 becomes available, haven't heard much back from folks yet. Maybe you can update me ... later ;)

Nothing to fill out for the I-94. At the POE the officer will stamp your passport, and write in (I think) the catagory of visa, and expiration date. Later, you will need to go to the website metioned in Hanks guide to print out a hard copy of the I-94.

He will need to fill out the CBP Form 6059B, Customs Declaration on the plane. Make sure he does not plan to bring in any fresh fruits, vegitables, plants, meat (or meat by products, often found in soup mixes, instant noodle dishes, etc) this is not an all inclusive list of prohibitied items.
