Hey,

I was searching the forums but could't find the answer. I applied for my wife around 11 month ago, while I was a green card holder. But 08/20/13 I became citizen so I sent them a letter with my certificated and case number etc.

So my question do you guys know, how long it would take from now on, or when I will be getting the approval etc. ClockWatch2.gif

USCIS has the instructions on how to upgrade a petition here:

If You Were an LPR and Are Now a U.S. Citizen: Upgrading a Petition

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_2991.html#5

It's amazing how many questions can be resolved with a 2 minute Google search...

Hello, no one can tell how long the whole journeyay take for one as there are too many conditions in there. However you can find the USCIS timeline https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do in here, once your case is approved as a citizen, it may take 1-4 months to get NVC approval and then another 1-4 months for getting visa stamped on your wife's passport. All these timelines are pure estimate assuming you did everything right and everything was processed on time without an issue. For a citizen the total ride could be 8 months to 1.5 years in BD. as 9 months ago you were a GC and now your status is upgraded, my guess if you are proactive and all goes well this may take less than a year for the whole thing to get completed.

I know it's a vague answer. But this whole process is vague and full of ambiguity. Good luck

Hello bro,

I think your best choice would be call USCIS directely and ask them to update your case status and also mention that you just became us citizen and you also sent the documents. Now they will tell how long it would take it before you can get the approval letter once you get that make

sure they change your case status from GC to Citizen if not than sent the certificate to NVC ok Good luck

I am also in the same boat.

If your I-130 has already been approved by USCIS, then you should get in touch with the NVC who are now handling the case.

If your I-130 has not yet been approved, then you you need to send a letter explaining the situation and a copy of the NOA1 and your Naturalization/Passport copy. You have to send this to the processing center that sent you the NOA1.

Hopefully the priority date should change to 11 months back and this should fast track your case. But you never know with USCIS. and I am also not sure. This is my guess.
