Opening xmas gifts

Just wondering who else here with children puts the gifts under the tree during the night of Dec. 24 while the children are asleep so that when they wake up they have presents to open? I have heard some people do the main gifts opening on Xmas Eve NOT Xmas Day. When and how do you celebrate this Xmas tradition with your family?

Gifts don't go under the treee until after the 18 year old is in bed on Christmas Eve!

Gifts under the tree on the night of the 24th.... all the kids are grown up now but we still do this... then in the morning the oldest member of the household (my dad this year) will give out the gifts once we have had breakfast... that way we all get to see eachother open our gifts...

We have Christmas Eve dinner here.... the whole family together, about 20 people, at my grandma's house . So at midnight, we do the gift exchange. After the party we come home and go to sleep.... that's when my parents' put "Santa's gifts" under the tree. When we wake up in the morning... Voila!!!

All my life the presents went out the night of the 24th and were opened on the 25th, no exceptions. My 'new' family gets together on the 24th for dinner and present opening but hubs and I are waiting until the 25th for our gifts for each other.

When I was younger only gifts from relatives or friends were put under the tree prior to Christmas evening. My parents always put the presents under the tree after we were put to bed. With my two sons we follow this same tradition and the presents will go under the tree after they are sent to their rooms for the night. Happy Holidays!

In Brazil we always open the presents on X-mas eve at midnight. That was always tradition in my house. It's the one night of the year that little kids stay up until midnight to open presents.

We open Family's gifts on Christmas eve...Santa's gifts on Christmas Day.

We open one gift on christmas eve, Santa's gifts and the other presents on christmas day. (note: only 2 adults here at the moment but it just isnt right to not have something from Santa under the tree)

At home in NZ, all presents where opened when the parents got up on christmas morning... as a kid this sucked so bad as the 4 of us were up at 5 am and would be argueing with each other on who got to wake them up!

all gifts are put under tree whenever they are bought and wrapped. that applies to both my family and Ana's. My family opens the gifts at midnight. Ana's on Christmas morning.

We always put the gifts out once the kids are in bed and open them once the kids wake up! (unless its 2 AM like last year!!!)

We have various gifts under the tree (like presents between me and my sister, etc), but my parents' gifts to us are still put under the tree after we're asleep Christmas Eve night (we always spend the night at my parents' house on Christmas Eve). We get up insanely early and look at our stockings and open presents. It's the same now as it was when we were little, but my sister and I fill up my parents' stockings now.
