If some1 breaks in... I don't have time to determine if the intruder is armed & dangerous.... if said intruder is not fleeing the scene....I'm going Biden.

What ya say Joe? Double Barrel up the Wazoo?

So if I wake up in the middle of the night and someone is in my home, and the front door has been kicked down, you don't think i have the right to shoot them ?

excuse me sir...I am armed and request you leave. Really ?

I don't make the decision, the criminal does when they put themselves in that position.

If someone pulls a knife on me you don't think i have the right to use deadly force ?

Why do you think I want to answer questions about specific scenarios you make up? This is supposed to be a discussion about principle. I advocate living n in a society where the principal is that a person is innocent until proved guilty in a court of law. That translates to where possible, criminals should be brought to justice not shot in the commission of crimes by civilians .

Clearly there are occasions where the life of an individual is put in jeopardy by a criminal in pursuit of criminal activity and just as clearly that individual always has the right to fight for their own life. That is a separate subject and one that we all find very easy to understand and defend. The right to shoot just because someone enters your home is not the same as having the right to shoot someone who is putting your life imminently and immediately in danger.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

True, it would be much more entertaining to keep messing with her. Of course we all know you made up the story since no one lives in a house of 3500+ square feet. devil.gif

I bet Willy Wonka does...oh wait...he's just made up too. blush.png

That is quite possibly the most intense pontification of progressive hot air and moral relevancy that I have ever witnessed Congrats.

What do you think that even means? I do not advocate putting the execution of laws in the hands of civilians, that's a pretty commonplace perspective for those living in civilsed societies.

Criminals aren't part of and do not deserve a place in a civilized society. With that in mind, you are free to advocate what you wish.

Rules of a civilized society: Advocate ones views off of others property and away from others (occupied) homes or vehicles (especially if spouse or children are around)

Self-defense is not the "execution of laws". What a silly analogy.

i don't get it.

I think you will find you are wrong. To be a criminal you have to be convicted of a crime and even once you have been convicted of a crime you still have rights and a place in society albeit incarcerated and away from the rest of society. Criminals are incarcerated for fixed terms (except in exceptional circumstances) and once their sentence is served they are freed from prison and resume life outside . Criminals are not branded and excommunicated from society.

That's even sillier. To be a criminal you simply must commit a crime. Elevating the rights of criminals who are in the act of committing a crime above the rights of their intended victims are principles of stupid societies, not civilized societies.
