i have no quarrel with you or others willing to accept & respect others beliefs. i have issue with the militant anti religion fringe.

No, when you used the all inclusive "stupid" you chose to quarrel with all "atheists" and you showed your true colors as a card carrying member of the intolerant militant pro religion fringe.'

Poor Steve. He gets all the hate for enticing Adam with his manliness.

Not sure I ever met a real gay guy named Steve...way too pedestrian

So you're against the "militant anti-religion fringe" .. but you seem eager to participate in the militant pro-religion fringe with your insults.

I mean, you preach acceptance and respect of the beliefs of others ... in the same thread where you make statements like "atheists are stupid" ... how does that work out?

I know how the asstheist on VJ roll. So, I roll the same way on this subject.

If you want to meet Steve, I'm sure Adam will introduce you :P

Although it's true. If their name is spelled Stephen, I would imagine Steph would be trendier. If it's spelled Steven, though, I don't know if they have many options...

Actually, I could have sworn I did once meet a real gay guy named Steve.

What would Xenu do?

Very mature. Thanks for contributing to the discussion. Congratulations, you became part of the problem you complain about.

In these situations, there's really not a lot one can do. Think of it this way... if you invested a ton of money into something, and it starts to do badly... it starts to look like you made a bad investment...

There's a type of person who would call it quits and cash out whatever value they have left.

There's another type of person who will hang on and continue to say, "I am sure it will pick back up soon," even when it's obvious that the chance of the value of the investment returning to its original value is extremely, extremely slim.

Some people invest so much time into their religion... even though they know that they may, or even know that they are wrong in their belief, they can't admit it because of all the investment they made. Nobody likes to admit a mistake.... even if their mistake is Scientology or a suicidal cult... they follow through to drinking the red punch because of their investment.

With people so invested, you can't say they are wrong. They won't listen. They'll result to plugging their ears and singing, or making pointless arguments.

With that said, I understand why someone would want to be religious. It provides a lot of comfort that people might not be able to get elsewhere. I feel comfortable about my own death, because I know of what I've given my kids, and because I don't take life too seriously anyway. Other people need to know that they'll be rewarded in the afterlife.

I'm good. As long as I piss off a couple asstheist.

One of God's great two commandments was love each other as you love yourself.

But oddly enough so many Christians spends so much energy hating anyone who does not think like them.

You're doing God's work.

I call it. Fighting fire with fire. And I don't care what you call it.

Who's hating?

I don't see anyone in here calling religious people stupid. You're the one throwing personal insults for no reason. Not sure which fire you're fighting, but hey. Just another of God's tolerant children, right? ;)

This isn't either of us's first day or religion discussion.
