Some folks think religion should be taught in public schools instead of scientific discovery. Then they say, I have to respect their belief. I will the minute their belief goes into their church and stays.

-Since I have run ropes around your lame claims I guess you are reffering to me so then please quote for me the part where I even mentioned puting anything in schools?

I simply demonstrated, were it not for religous places of higher learning the science would look nothing even close to what we know today.

That you can exaggerate a few scuffles along the way is laughable.

-You seem to actually believe a little faith in the classroom would spell the end of education...... to that I would ask: What year did religion exist the classroom and to what extent has the academics soared?

-Is the average homeschooler or Public schooled student more likely to be prepared in the sciences when it comes to collage SAT's?

What did you run ropes around? You quoted what I said and highlighted a few things you thought supported you, even though they didn't. But, I wasn't talking about you, well not specifically.

Why does faith have to be involved in education? I assume you think the us should be a Christian nation. I think we'd all be better with no religion period. So we're at odds there for sure.

But I don't care if you go to your church and worship your god. Why can't you keep it there? Freakin make your own schools. Many do already. It's fine. It's time that religion takes a backseat in the world of public education.

Homeschoolers usually kill it test wise but blow socially. For obvious reasons, none related to faith.

Awwe GD , you seem to be developing a noticeable pattern here.

Danno presents simple questions which follow up on your comments and you fail to answer.... and I bet you still think of yourself as the "open minded" logical one.

I accept your Atheism and all that in fact I'll give you a piece of advice, stay away from empirical evidence and facts cuzz you don't have them on your side in the areas you have been debating.

What you do have is a prejudice based on small amount of truth and skewed history and a lot of fable telling.

With most people you can get by with that but Danno puts you to the test and in your case you dared not fill out the answers.

You're just saying whatever you want at this point. Nothing you asked for has anything to do with anything other than showing the monopoly religion runs on schooling. The good thing is, some folks use their brain to find answers outside of vague interpretations. You know, mathematically. You did win anything, you supported what I said about Galileo. Thanks

I agree completely. Were it not for the hold of the Holy Roman Empire - which is neither Roman, much less holy and far from an empire - I believe science would be far more advanced that we can ever dream. Thanks to religious places of higher learning, the world lived in scientific darkness for a thousand years, while the church fed its swill as truth, as it continues to do today.

Despite all the discussion however, none of your flimsy arguments make any deities less made up and non-existent in the real world.

Santa used to come in through my fireplace and bring me presents, back when I believed in Santa.

I'm betting somewhere in that noggin of yours you can formulate a better line of argument than that.

And you see this is the challenge I have when I debate some militant atheists, once they get past flimsily logic and half truths, they just run out of gas.

Now I have wadded in here, ever so bravely taking on those who claim to base their reasoning on Logic and fact, yet when I present historical facts, and ask the most basic of questions I get Gegel blathering on with his shallow opinion but little more.

To his vacant POV I would ask him to scroll back a post or so and answer my reasonable question..... or just continue on as if he is in a Atheist chat room with everyone in agreement.

If you don't understand my line of thinking in that comment, it's obvious why you are theistic. It's not a bad thing. Actually, I wish that I had the ability to accept something without proof. My life would be so much simpler.

The only reason I am a Buddhist is because of all the philosophies and ways to live one's life, it made sense. It didn't require me to blindly trust anything, but rather to question everything, including the teachings of Buddhism, which lead to me straying from the path of traditional Buddhism whenever the traditions didn't make sense.

The issue with religion is that it tells people when and how to kill others, when and how to have sex, what to eat, and various other things. If these rules were to be imposed on me without my personal consent (if I lived in, for instance, Saudi Arabia, and couldn't get out of the country), I would not like it. If someone were to take my kids (kids believe everything -- look at Santa), and tell them about how great Jesus is behind my back, I would not be happy about that. That's my issue with religion.

Here's an example. In Mongolia, there's a non-profit. It's not a recognized religious institution, and the foreigners who run it do not have religious visas, which means they are not legally allowed to partake in religious activities. Does that stop them from giving food only to people who pray to their god with them? Nope! They just flaunt the law. What do the Mongolians who want free food do? They say whatever prayer the people want them to and get free food. The issue is when they start running children's art classes. It sounds harmless. Then, you find out they tell the kids about Jesus the whole time (illegally, shall I remind you.)

What if I were to invite your kids to a free art class, and start preaching to them about Islam, without letting you know that was my intention. Would you like that?

That's the reason I'm not very fond of these religions... they spread like virii.

The only worship out of these three that actually means anything? The first one. If you were loyal to Kim Jong Il, you might have gotten something out of it -- a good job, a nice house, food, etc.

My family saw a movie where people were praying before dinner, thanking Jesus for the food. My son said, "Wait a minute. The dad bought the food with his salary. The mother cooked the food. Why are the kids thanking Jesus?" Now, we often jokingly thank Jesus for stuff we do for each other. If my kid makes me coffee, when he gives it to me, I look up and thank Jesus, and we all have a laugh.

Ironically, if you thank your North Korean Leader of Choice instead, you might actually get something out of it...

You think you have won an argument, but for the life of me I can't work out what argument you think you have won. Could you possibly outline the argument that you have made so I can work out if in fact you have won it or not?

Ah, that's Danno's key to success. Type a lot, confuse everyone, claim victory. Nobody knows what he's saying in the first place, so HOW can it be wrong?!
