Thanks Trixiestep none of the SRC# around me have been approved. They all at Alien#....Hopefully next week:-)

Yeah, I keep checking few times a day. I checked SRC's # close to mine and they are staring to get approved as of last week.

Patience is tough at this point, but you'll get there. I got my NOA2 at 9:45 pm and had just checked at 9:15pm for an update. Try not to check too much it'll shave years of your life worrying. It'll come. ;)

Hey all,

I want to briefly recap what happens after the NOA2 is received, please let me know if I am missing something.

The NVC should take two weeks to received the approved I129F from USCIS. It is then forwarded to the US embassy where the foreign fiancé(e) resides.

At this stage the US Embassy will make contact with the foreign fiancé (e) about the petition & send forms & checklist. Foreign Fiancé(e) completes forms and sends to US embassy.

US Embassy replies with interview date & medical interview info.

What else do we need to know or do in the process.?

Thanks Guysgoofy.gif

Your steps are right, but the timelines may not be right on. It's been taking a while for the service centers to forward the files to NVC. Only one person (tessyht) on the thread have their case number.

Update: we called the NVC today and received our case number. It's been just under 3 weeks since we got our NOA2. So now on to the next step!

I'm soooo happy for you!!!!

Thanks a lot TrixieStep, you're so helpful!

So why do I need to call NVC to find out case number, if they will be forwarding the case to the embassy anyway? Is this just for peace of mind to know the NVC has recieved it or indication the petition was sent to the embassy in the foreign beneficiary's country? I suppose having the case number will allow you to call and inquire to get more infomation about the case progress.

By reading posts on VJ it seems to be a common practice to call & get case number.

Congrats! I see we got approved about a 1 week later for our NOA2 so it has been exactly 2 weeks today. Should I be calling NVC for our case number? What is the phone number to call? Does getting the case number make the process faster(can we schedule the interview faster?

Thanks-

You dont have to call the NVC for your case number, but once you get the number you can follow where your petition is online on the CEAC website. So you can see when it leaves the NVC and arrives at the embassy etc. That's basically why we wanted the case number as soon as possible, as reassurance that everything is going to plan with the petition. It wont speed up anything. The phone number we called is 603 334-0700 (that's the NVC). They were very friendly and helpful although we were on hold for about half an hour.

I thought I would share one thing I ran across that really confused me for a while. After I got my case number, I wanted to track the status by going to this site

https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx

The confusing part is that when I selected nonimmigrant visa and put in my case number it said it was not valid. I had to select immigrant visa and enter the case number and then I got the status update below. I haven't got an interview date... This does not make sense

U.S. Department of State
IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION
In Transit
Immigrant Visa Case Number: MNL**13808110

Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center.
