So I am faithfully checking my online status weekly and it still says initial review. Any thoughts as to how long the initial review usually takes? What is the next step after that?

Oh ok. So I assume approval comes after the interview ? Any idea how much lead time they give you for your interview

You are waiting for your petition to be approved. Then your file goes to the NVC, after that... sent to the consulate/embassy for your interview. Gear up for a long wait. 9-11 months

February and March filers were just transferred the past 2 weeks after 7-8 months of collecting dust at the NBC. 3 approvals came through today. Check out Igor's list ( Immigration timeline tab above) Read the guides ( tab above) you can get a good idea of what to expect from them. Also, check out other threads for information.

I HAD to reply to you two....coz I had something similar happen this past weekend. Hubby sent me our IV package from Netherlands. I tracked it with Fed-Ex and they said it was in Newark on Saturday morning, then in Paris on Saturday afternoon. So it supposedly went from Amsterdam-Paris-Newark and back to Paris. We called and got two different answers. I got a call back from California. He got a call back from Montreal (in French.) It was all pretty ridiculous, frustrating...but now, I can say it was funny. But, yes...another of the joys of our LD marriages, eh?

Blueberry...UGGs are awesome! That was a super nice present. smile.png Good job Blueberry-Hubby!!! =)

Oh wow, how did it happen? Did you finally get it though?

My hubby called them (USPS or Australian Post- not sure) and they re-routed it to Poland, thank God! prior to that the status already had shown "returned to sender". Whew!

Too funny.. What are the odds?! :D

I guess the UGGs really wanted to go back home :P

This was the second time my hubby shipped something to me visa USPS Express. The first time it took 3 weeks plus I had to pay ridiculous tax and customs for the Christmas gift (VS stuff... :P ) that came up to like 80% of gift's value. I was soo mad! But- had to pay :(

And now this. No more USPS Express Mail. EVER.

This has probably already been mentioned - but transfers shouldn't affect Sept filers since we were sent to Overland Park, correct? Because after checking the newly updated site (glad to know they spent time doing that instead of reducing the backlog ... ), I read the transfer news for I-130s which stated that cases were being transferred to help reduce the backlog.

So, we might get transferred, too. Also, all new petitions are going straight to Nebraska Service Center. Not to Overland Park anymore...

I'm guessing it means NBC Kansas is not and will not be fully operational any time soon.

It's just an assumption based on the fact that all expedite requests/approvals and other stuff have been coming from/ going to Lee's Summit, not Overland Park.

That, and new cases going straight to Nebraska now.

6/21/2013 -Married in Stockholm, Sweden 4/16/2014- Case received at NVC

9/6/2013 -Priority Date 5/13 /2014- Case number and IIN assigned

2/25/2014 -Transferred to NSC 5/20/2014- DS-261 completed

3/31/2014 -Approved 5/21/2014- AOS fee invoiced and paid

5/22/2014- AOS package overnighted to NVC

5/28/2014- AOS scanned into the system

6/20/2014- IV invoice email (but fee still locked on CEAC )

6/23/2014- IV fee finally unlocked and paid.

IV package overnighted to NVC

6/30/2014- IV scanned in. DS260 completed.

7/1/2014- AOS accepted

7/2/2014- False checklist (AOS reviewed)

8/1/2014 False checklist (attorney's G28 reviewed)

8/2/2014 False checklist (NVC not sure why it was generated)

I am the beneficiary. 8/12/2014 CASE COMPLETE!

8/26/2014 Medical

9/2/2014 Interview... APPROVED!!!

9/5/2014 Visa in hand
