Hey! I need help. The NVC thread is crazy so hopefully someone here will know. My husband is the immigrant, I am the USC, and my father is going to sponsor my husband. Can someone please tell me if my dad, the co-sponsor, needs to file an I-864A or a different form? I am just confused and I don't want to have him fill out the wrong form.

My husband and I are living outside the US and when we move to The States we don't plan on living with him. HELP! And thank you!

I believe that your father, the joint sponsor, also needs to fill out the full I-864 and check box 1.d. "I am the only joint sponsor". You should also fill out the full I-864 and check box 1.a. :)

Yes, it was a late night but I finally figured it out. So many papers!! Hahaha. Thank you so much.

Now, do you know if my husband, who is a Serbian citizen and has no SS# or AR# and is currently not working needs to file an I-864a? I am completely confused with that. I figured I would just do it anyway but they are asking for IRS tax returns (which he obviously doesn't have) and there's no other option. I already don't meet the requirements, which is why my father is the joint sponsor. What the heck do I do with Part 6 of my I-864? Leave him out of it or include him and file the I-864a? Lord help me.

You're welcome. :)

That, I am not sure about. My spouse is the Mexican citizen, and I don't know if we will use his assets because his income will not continue once we move to the U.S. Maybe someone else will know this answer.

Yeah, it just does't make sense. He has no income, and even if he did it would not continue to the US. I just wish there was somewhere that clearly stated "No, you don't need it!" haha. I just don't want to get a checklist and be stuck here even longer.

I know. It's not very clear. In our case, my spouse does have an income here in Mexico; he supports me, as I don't have the proper papers to work. His income from his business here will not continue when we go to the U.S. but he does have bank accounts here. So confused...

I been Approved on 10 April my case was shipped to NVC from Nebraska on 17 th April , on 29 April they got my case since then I dident call em again . reason that i dident is that most of other petitioners wating are for 20 to 23 working says for Case Number , whats the diffrence of calling everyday and not calling for three weeks till u think is near 30 days ?!

In practice, there really isn't one. I was scanning through Saylin's spreadsheet and it looks like 30 calendar days (approx 23 business days) has been the norm since the beginning of 2014 with no sign of the numbers getting issued quicker.
