It's getting better. NVC is averaging 58 days right now, so it's about a 2 month process. This does not include medical & interview JUST NVC.

Nvc received case to case complete

02-21-2014: NOA2 for I-130( I-129F closed)

03-11-2014: NVC received case

03-19-2014: NVC sent case back to USCIS

04-07-2014: USCIS got the case

sent case back to NVC again :P

4/11/2014: NVC case number assigned.

4/21/2014: AOS and IV fees Paid.

4/24/2014: DS-260 submitted.

5/01/2014: AOS packet scanned

5/01/2014: IV packet scanned

5/21/2014: case completed. Woooowwww

6/26/2014: Medical Day

7/13/2014: Biometrics day

3/31/2014 -Approved 5/21/2014- AOS fee invoiced and paid

5/22/2014- AOS package overnighted to NVC

5/28/2014- AOS scanned into the system

6/20/2014- IV invoice email (but fee still locked on CEAC )

I believe received to complete. It seems the longest wait is getting a case #. From then on out it's smooth sailing!

I know this is a random question and it's probably already answered somewhere on VJ, within what time frame does the beneficiary actually have to cross over into the U.S. once everything is all said and done and the interview is complete?

Exactly :) Although another VJ member reported today that NVC has been working both Saturdays and Sundays recently, so hopefully case number assignment will speed up soon.

Wow, ok. So it's not like something where you have to go right away? I ask because I (the petitioner) am currently living in Mexico with my spouse and if and once we are approved, I will need to go back to the U.S. to find a job before we both make the move. :)

It looks like they're getting better with their timeline in issuing case numbers. I'm hoping for a mid-April case #, case complete mid-June!

BOS_LHR, what's the interview time frame for UK interviews? Do you know, better yet, what's the best thread for that?

Nope, no worries, you won't have to drop everything and leave immediately :) They give you some lead time to wrap up your affairs, thank goodness. The visa will have the expiry date when you receive it back in the passport, just enter before the date printed.
