I got approved on the 7th, but was just wondering if we are getting too excited a little too soon? Is the NVC stage of all this as strict and stressful as the initial I-130 with USCIS, or once aprroved by USCIS does NVC push the cases through as long as all is in order with required documents?

From what I've seen I don't think NVC are as haphazard as USCIS, so it's more a matter of waiting in line and taking your turn, giving them what they ask for and waiting a little bit more, we're all great at waiting now, this stage should be a doddle right?!!

NVC is a bit backlogged at the moment (which could have been avoided, IMHO). However, once the case number is issued, things tend to move rather quickly. There are some fees to pay and packets to submit, but delays of that nature are generally on the visa receipients. Scheduling of the medical and interview time frame largely depends on what country the beneficiary is in.

I'll add one more thing; there will not be a spreadsheet created on this thread for those of us who moved to the NVC stage. There's already a spreadsheet to track those in the NVC thread and I certainly don't want to step on the admin's toes and create confusion :)

It's not required, but you are allowed to attend.

I was wondering the same thing, since the NVC guidelines say your spouse has to to go but the petitioner doesn't...I'm thinking not, since it'd be hard for everyone to travel for one day but I'm not 100% sure. I was going to email our attorney when we got closer to it

Thanks for the info. I was just asking that because I've heard of people having to reschedule an interview because when they got there they said no to them because the petitioner was not present. The last thing that I want is to have to wait even more when I get to that stage of this "nightmare" lol… Plus I can save some money that way dancin5hr.gif
