Yup, that all makes sense too smile.png But from reading many of the posts, it seems that for some people, the analyzing (etc) is indeed raising their stress levels. Dont get me wrong, Im certainly not criticizing what people are doing, and I completely understand why its being done... But even with the greatest of statistics, predictions can be virtually impossible because as i said, at the end of the day, USCIS is going to do whatever it wants to do. As ive said before, I have been checking my case status online like a madman, but I havent tried to predict when my case will be transferred. Im assuming it will be soon, but when, and where to, are totally beyond my control, and its the same for everyone, no matter how many spreadsheets are created or trends anaylzed. Again, Im not criticising, i completely understand the need for information and hope, but my concern is that for some people, the added stress will just make things worse, and things are bad enough for most people already. sad.png

You've got a good point, that there may be some obsession and with constant disappointment, it may be a downer; however, I decided to be proactive and be ready for the next stage - whenever that may be - so I asked my husband to prepare all of his documents that I'll need to send off for his IV package for the NVC. He just received his police certificate this morning and will be bringing it with him when he gets here next Friday just in case we miraculously get processed through to the next stage next month. Instead of focusing on what I can't control, as you stated, I am trying to focus on what I can control so I can be ready to go.

Honestly, I'm not the most chipper person all the time, in fact, I complain and vent a lot about this process with co-workers and with my husband, but I try not to bring that negativity here since we all feel this way and wish our time apart from our loved ones would finally end. We're all here to support each other, even if it means coming to vent, participate in spreadsheets, digging up some news from outside sources, or offering up your own two cents. We all want the same thing and I hope and pray every day that we all get there quickly.

It'd probably be MUCH harder on me to not know anything if I hadn't found this forum and just wait for the process and hope that I did everything right. So if I haven't said it before, thanks to everyone who provide helpful information and guides to ensure that we do our paperwork correctly or to the best of our abilities, and to those who go above and beyond to get their voices heard. This is an amazing community and I'm glad to be a part of it. smile.png

I, for one, welcome our new Nebraskan overlords. I eagerly await my RFE instructions. I aim to please.

I dont disagree with your viewpoint at all, and everything you say is spot on. I think Im probably concerned for others, based on my own feelings. I stumble from day to day, feeling excited/happy/nervous/angry/annoyed/hopeful/hopeless... And i think if I were to start predicting or worrying about 'Nebraska' (or whatever), it would just make me feel worse, especially if my predictions proved to be completely wrong. From what I read in people's posts, everyone seems very nice, and everyone has their own struggles with the process, and perhaps my paternal instinct is kicking in, but I worry that the stress may be counter-productive for many people. Sometimes I think its just better to 'wait and see'.

We sent off for our UK police certificate today, in preparation for the interview, whenever that may be. We have paperwork sorted out for the affidavit of support, and whatever paperwork and proof we can muster to prove our 17 year relationship and 6 month old marriage are genuine. Im leaving for Florida in a few days time, and im kind of hoping my NOA2 will be waiting for me when I arrive :)

Anyway, my comments are based on concern for the wellbeing of everyone, rather than on criticism. Lets just hope this will all be a distant memory for us all, this time next year :)

Question about the certificate; does it have to be dated a certain period of time by the inerview (it can't be older than 6 months kind of thing)?

We want to order it now, but we also don't want to jump the gun...

bdrew, I got a call back and then an automated system told me to press one to speak with an immigration service officer, or something of that nature. Then a gentleman picked up the phone and I asked him where the package went, and he said it's in route to the California Service Center. And then I asked him to clarify again, just so I wasn't hearing things. Is that how you experienced it? I just want to make sure I wasn't sent to a Tier 1. Would they know where my package went?

In the UK, a police certificate is valid for 6 months, however - for some reason - the US embassy (in London at least, im not sure about others) extends its validity to 12 months. I dont really see the point of a police certificate at all, to be honest. The police can certify today that youre a perfect citizen, then tomorrow you could go out and rob a bank. In fact, i think the police certificate website (whatever its called) actually says something about a certificate only being truly accurate on the day they issue it.

But anyway, if youre waiting for your NOA2 now, you should be fine to get your certificate now.

Please note that the Immigrant Visa Unit considers the police certificate valid for 12 months from the date of issuance, not six months as stated on the certificate.

From:

http://london.usembassy.gov/mobile/document_checklist.html#police_certificate

There is no set period of time for which the Police Certificate is considered to be valid. The Police Certificate is only truly accurate on the date of issue. Embassies or High Commissions will usually require you to produce a Police Certificate which has been issued less than six (6) months before your visa interview.

Oh no worries, I agree with you in that it may cause stress, but I was just sharing what I do to combat that because I have enough stress at work already! haha. And as others have said, who knows where Nebraska is at right now or if CSC or TSC will start slowing down or stay the same. All I know is that my eyes on set on my path ahead and I will be ready to finish this marathon!

And awesome! My hubs got two copies just in case and I was surprised as to how quickly he got them considering he sent it off last week! Hope y'all share the same good fortune. :)

^^^ Yep! Beat me to it! We already had one from last year in preparation for the K1 visa, but obviously we had to get a new one since that one expires in April (based on 12 months).

Since NVC is bottlenecked due to USCIS' sudden rapid approvals, I think my husband and I are going to wait to order it until we get our NOA2. I'm hearing this second leg is taking about 3-6 months from NOA2 and since we don't even have the NOA2 yet, I'm afraid it might be too soon.

i told my wife to call USCIS as a few of you have done.

She said, they told her that our petition is not in CSC nor Nebraska etc... it's in Philadelphia Local office...

how can this be? arent all pettions going to servce centers?

someone can explain pls? thanks

I think she should call back. That sounds weird. Did she speak with a Tier 2?

As far as I've been lead to believe, local offices can process the I-130s and will sometimes get them to clear out the backlog. I know salt lake city had a few last year. This is just what I've been told though.
