Drivers license

I'm not quite sure if this is the right place to post about this ... but anyway, my husband and I are in the process of AOS from VWP and as of now I've been in the US for a little over 3 months, driving our car with my European drivers license.

I remember a while back reading somewhere that your foreign license is only valid to drive in the US for a period no longer than 3 months, but I can't seem to find this information anymore..

I was wondering if anyone knows if this holds true, or if it's okay for me to keep driving our car with my European drivers license (Portugal), until the AOS process is completed and I can apply for a local drivers license - we're in Oregon, btw.

Thank you!

Driver's licences and the like are controlled by the states, and as such, rules and regulations vary from state to state. You should review the OR DMV site for more information:

I've looked at their website ... they don't seem to have any information on the subject.

Go to the dmv offices and ask. Or call them. My brother had an Indian license. He wasn't allowed to use it to drive in MA or NY but CA he was allowed to drive using his Indian license. While in NC some of my friends were allowed to drive up to 12 months using an International driver's license and not at all using their Indian ones. I think it depends on individual states and the country you are from and the type of license you have.
