Okay, so here's the shortened version of my story. I've known this guy since we were literally toddlers and I only got to see him when my family went on vacations to Jordan, which was quite often when we were little. I've always had a crush on him. The last time I saw him, I was 13 years old. About two years ago, when I was 21, we reconnected online through facebook. I was scheduled to come to Jordan 6 months ago. We were both excited about finally being able to see each other in person, but I still wasn't positive that he liked me too. When I got here (still in Jordan for another 2 weeks) he was all grown up and I was sure from the moment I saw him that he was the one. We started talking on the phone instead of online, within days he admitted that he's liked me practically his whole life and I finally admitted the same. We talk every hour of every day and I go to his house and spend time with him and his family very often.

Here's the catch. I have two years left of school and I would very much like to continue living in the states. I spent my whole life in Texas and I can't see myself leaving anytime soon. I spoke to him about it and he agreed to come with me. But I only have two weeks left here and I have no idea how to get the whole process started. Can anyone help? Would it be better if we did katb iktab before I left or does it not matter?

Is a K-1 better or a K-3? Or a CR-1? I have no idea and I desperately need help. I looked at every page on this site imaginable but I still don't have the slightest clue which forms would be best. What's the fastest? I can support him until he gets papers to work and I plan on marrying him in Texas the day he gets there but I just don't know how to start.

Help please?

Hello!

There's a comparison guide for the options here: http://www.visajourney.com/content/compare

Basics:

* Cheapest, fastest to green card: I-130 for CR-1 visa takes longer, but it's cheaper (no AOS) and the beneficiary gets a GC straight away, allowing them to work and travel outside the USA. Factor in the cost of getting married ASAP, as opposed to later (in case you want the big white wedding and haven't saved for it yet). Guide; http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?autocom=custom&page=i130guide1

* Fastest to USA entry: I-129f for K1 visa historically takes less time to obtain, but it's more expensive (+over $1k for AoS) and the beneficiary can't work or leave the USA until they have their work permit and AP (or AOS is complete). Guide: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?autocom=custom&page=k1guide

There's less of a gap between the two options these days, in terms of time - you might want to consider the other aspects more (work ability, cost).

Ignore the K3 - it's basically defunct. It doesn't get approved any faster than the IR/CR-1 path alone.

It seems you are not ready to get married within the next two weeks, so the CR/IR would not be the process for you. CR/IR is for those who are already married. If you are planing to return home and if he will follow you to live in the US you need to think about the K-1 fiance visa.

In the link below are more details about the K-1 route.

Good luck!

I've been in Jordan for six months. If I were to do Direct Consulate Filing, wouldn't that be better?

Thank you!

You'd need to be living there when you filed the I-130 - can you get married, do the paperwork and file in 2 weeks?

Just checked Jordan's DCF info. You must have been living there for 12 months:

Damn. No choice than to do the K-1 I suppose. Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!

You may still do the CR-1 route if you want to have a quicky wedding now, of course. :) Both petitions can be filed once you've returned to the US (the two guide links I posted above both assume the petitioner is in the US).

In regards to Section C Question 2, if applicable provide certified copies of all court and police records showing the charges and dispositions for any specified conviction(s) (in accordance with the IMBRA). See section 9 of the I-129f instructions for more information.

What? I went ahead and decided to do the K-1 fiancé visa but I don't understand this step. I'm not seeing a section 9. He doesn't have any misdemeanors so that means I don't need a copy of his police records, right?

He will need police records to show that he has never been arrested or convicted for a crime.

One thing that struck me in your OP: you mentioned you wanted to stay in the US for 2 years to finish your schooling- does that mean you plan on living in Jordan after? If so, you may consider not doing anything about his US immigration- the visa process takes most of a year, and most young men from your country will have AP (extra security checks) after the interview (the process is also stressful and expensive). So it will take most of those two years to just get him to the USA,.

No, I'd rather live in the States. I spent my whole life there. Living is so much easier, Jordan still has a lot of improvements to make.

But I have another question. I've had a Jordanian passport almost all of my life so whenever we go to Jordan we use that passport instead of the American one. In the I-129f package I'm required to send copies of my complete American passport but all of the stamps are in my Jordanian passport. What should I do to prove I've been to Jordan to see my fiancé? Should I make copies of the Jordanian passport as well?

Has anyone else ever had this problem before?

Yes, make copies of the Jordanian passport as well. If you have any ticket stubs/ boarding passes, send copies of those also.
