  1. 1. How do you feel about an American President promising military action against a foreign entity and then backing off?

    • If you promise military action, you should do it. There is nothing worse than looking weak. The world is full of animals who prey on the weak.

    • Reconsidering previous decisions in light of new information is fine. It's exactly what I expect leaders to do. Being right is more important than looking strong.
    • I don't have an opinion on this. I'm voting in this poll because this option is present otherwise none of you would ever even know I exist.

The kenyan has NO clue what he is doing or what is going on in the middle east. I draw a red line .. no I don't ...Maybe I do,,, Maybe I don't,,,,if the evidence points the blame at the Syrian rebel opposition, is the Kenyan going to bomb them for doing it?

That is why Obama is getting Congress involved. What if we attack and later it is revealed it was not the al-Assad that launched the alleged chemical weapons? Remember Iraq?

I don't care who launched the chemical weapons, the US should to stay out of Syria. I can't believe the US has not learned it's lesson yet about putting it's nose where it doesn't belong.

My Jewish freind(s) are pissed.

Do your Jewish friends want an Israeli/Syrian war? Israel would be the most likely place for Syrian retaliation should the US strike Syria.

I second that notion too. We all know that no matter what we do or what the outcome is, the US will be to blame. I would rather we sit out this one.

Obama is Kenyan? I thought he was American.

Education is America is overrated.

Israel wants an excuse to keep the Golan Heights, perhaps even extend their influence further into Syria. Look how well Lebanon has been working for them.

Israel has already been launching retaliatory and preemptive strikes into Syria. Interestingly enough, Israel would rather keep Assad in power, although severely weakened.

Does Obama Have the Right to Change His Mind on Syria?

Huh ? I thought the only thing he was able to change was/where his pants.

This 'right to change' thingie is specious for a POTUS, really.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Yes. I like when people proudly display their stupidity. It brings me joy.

Same here. You know that the President could have pursued any course of action and he would have been attacked for it from the same people. Doesn't matter what he does. To some, he's just always wrong to do it. Whatever "IT" happens to be.

Making silly red lines was a big mistake, but attacking just because would be a bigger one. Generally I think anyone should say what they mean and mean what they say, but I think it is important to recognize when maybe you said the wrong thing, take a step back, and reanalyze. This is why I like Obama, because he is thoughtful, not bowing to this sad-man state of perpetual fisticuffs.

I can't see a road ahead for Syria that isn't horrible, and that's sad. Attacking seems bad, but sitting idly by and watching all those people die is just as bad.

I disagree completely. The option you describe as "sitting idly by" does not waste American resources on an ill-defined mission with no chance of altering the balance of power in Syria. The option you describe as "sitting idly by" does not have the United States interfering in a Syrian civil war where one side is supported by Shia powers like Iran and the other by Sunni powers like the KSA.

The American interest in not getting in the middle of a Shia-Sunni civil war in a large Arab country vastly outweighs our discomfort at watching images of dead people on TV. There is no need at all to import their civil war to our shores. If we get involved, that will most assuredly happen.

That is a very well thought out response.

Yes, all good points. But doesn't it feel the slightest bit wrong to just let so many people die and sit back and watch it happen?

I don't know what, if anything, could stop it. But I don't like it happening, for years, with no one doing anything.
