I've seen many, many stories shared across dozens of threads regarding experiences calling USCIS. I would like to collect all the misinformation we've been given into a single thread if possible. I think it would be educational to see the wide array of statements various USCIS representatives have made, and I also wonder if having a concise record of these things could be useful ammunition later on.

Include your NOA1 date, the date(s) you called/had an INFOPASS appointment, information you were given regarding processing times and petition location, and anything else you think is beneficial to share.

i am sure you will get a lot of comments here, but really it is more important to understand the various errors that one will encounter.

uscis deals with over a hundred million pieces of mailed documentation annually that have to be scanned into an antiquated computer system that doesn't always update correctly.

the biggest challenge is to find a tier 2 that will take the time to go through the dozen or so screens necessary to find the exact details of a case. I was only able to have this done two times.. once at an infopass and once over the phone.

just imagine how many phone calls these folks get and how these calls go with frustrated petitioners and probably the majority having no knowledge of the process as we do here on vj.

the best tips for speaking with a tier2:

1. BE NICE - you catch more bees with honey than you do with vinegar

2. If you need information, you need to speak with at least 4-5 tier 2's and when you get the same answer twice, that will most likely be the correct one.

best tips for the process

1. Understand and be prepared for any steps you will need to take in advance.. especially when speaking of a petition approval time over 5 months, and ESPECIALLY with the black hole that has developed called the NRC.

good luck everyone.. patience is key.. this process is overwhelmingly frustrating.
