So much stress...

My fiance and I got engaged in February and we sent our K1 packet in March... he shipped off to US Boot Camp from my house in England in April and graduated in August... we got our NOA2 July 23rd so we were ready for the next big step and ready to get married. However, the Army have screwed him over. We were relying on his monthly paychecks while he was in Boot Camp to get married with, but they screwed him over and messed up his paychecks bla bla bla... so now we're waiting on my interviews and medicals etc to be sorted and he is BUGGING OUT. He has anxiety issues, as does his mom. I'm here in the USA at his parents' house and they're arguing on the phone every night, both shouting and I'm here stuck in the middle... his mom tells him (out of anxiety) she doesn't think everything will work. So of course that sends him off on an anxiety attack and I'm left to bring them both back to reality and pick up the pieces (which I dont mind cause i love them both to bits.) However, now, he has it in his head that we need to get married before he gets a car which is plain stupid in my opinion, since he has no way of picking me up from the airport when i go to marry him etc, if he has no car. I told him we need to wait 2-3 months after my visa is issued in order for us to be set financially (as military housing comes with no furniture.. great.) But because of his talk with his mom, he is refusing to wait, and he is fearing he could be deployed to war before we get married which will screw up everything. It's all one big mess and as soon as I seem to have found a solution, a million and one problems pop up and I have to work around it and start all over again. So my question is, how long after my visa is issued do we have to get married? And if I state at my interview we have no date etc would this lessen my chances of being approved? Please help as I am at breaking point...

So my question is, how long after my visa is issued do we have to get married?

You have 90 days to get married upon arrival to the United States. Your K1 visa is valid up to 6 months after approval. Sorry about your situation. I wish I can say something to make you feel better sad.png

As soon as you have your visa, you can fly to the US.

Upon POE, you have 90 DAYS to get married.

I'm sorry you're going through all this. It sounds like a pain.

You will have 90 days to marry upon entering the U.S.

If your fiancé is set on having the car after your marriage, I'm certain he can find a rental car to pick you up. And he might get a discount for being in the military. And as for furniture, if funds are tight, maybe rent to own. They charge more in the long run, but sometimes, it's the only option.

I really hope everything works out for you!

Love always wins in the end!

Keep your head up!

Good luck!

if you are already at a breaking point before you are married and living together, what will it be like AFTER the marriage? Marriage is hard work, this is nothing compared to what it will be like after you are living together with bills, children ect...

In the scheme of immigration, getting married is more important than transportation from the airport. You list NYC as the local office. There is an abundance of public transportation, cab, and airport limo services in that part of the country. You will need $1070 to file for your greencard and work permit after the marriage. That should also be a priority.

The visa will be issued for 6 months past your medical. Stay in the UK and work and save money for furniture. Once you use the visa to enter the US, your 90 day clock starts for marriage.

Ask your fiance to send email to the embassy explained that he is in military and might be assigned to a zone, ask them to give the interview date as soon as possible so you can get married before military assign you somewhere.

An recent info i got is a soldier won't be sent to the war zone before his foreign wife got a green card.

Anyways, He can pick you up at the airport by taxi, i wouldn't care if i were you, cuz when i finally landed in US i wanna see the man i love not his car ;)

You can go to a flea market to see if you can find any affordable furniture to fill up the house, it should be little by little not like snapping your fingers and furnitures will be there.

This process will make even the strongest people feel like they're going crazy with stress and anxiety.....try and take a step back and breathe. Once you have the visa in hand and you move onto the next part you feel like a weight has been lifted from your shoulders. Of course you will still have challenges ahead but you can at least face them knowing you can both reside in the same country ( military life aside )
