K-1 Visa Processing Times: 2nd NOA: 5 months, really?

I don't believe there is much of a connection between processing times and NOA2. Ours was absolutely straightforward, no prior marriages, no kids, same age, no criminal records etc., and we still waited 6 months for our NOA2. It all depends on how slow/fast the service center you are at is working, and maybe on luck to some extent.

Duh, I meant to say I don't believe there is much of a connection between processing times and how easy your case is!

Unfortunately this process is not for the faint of heart, time or money, Hang In there. Keep to the average and hope it is quicker.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

We filed in November and had visa in hand June 7...about 7 months. It's a ridiculously long process and it seems like you will never get to the end of it while you are waiting! But you'll get through it and it will all be worth it!

Everything folks are saying is absolutely true. There doesn't really seem to be any rhyme or reason behind processing times. Guess it's just the luck of the draw. Ours took about 6 months and like someone else said, ours was very straight forward (no marriages, no kids, no criminal records, etc.) Guess it all depends on your service center and how busy they are at the time. I would suggest using the time you have to read threads, research upcoming processes, etc. and be very organized!

Best of luck to you! smile.png

Hi!

Newbie here! I just wanted to make sure I read this correctly. So, the 2nd notice of NOA can take up to 5 months? Is that a common time frame for most people? Should my fiance and I plan on this whole process taking about a year?

Thanks in advance!

-Hannah

If you have no RFE (and no foreseeable issues) - It should be way shorter! Unless there's an RFE (and depends on the complications!) it might take an additional 4-5 months. I know that when I applied for Mr.Hello's K-1 that it took us additional 4 months to get the NOA2. Either way, best of luck!

That seems to be the normal amount of time, though ours just got approved after 1.5 months so you never know!

I would say be emotionally prepared to wait for a year. USCIS is so variable. When we were gathering documents, there was a 10 month wait. When we actually submitted our paperwork, it was an average of 8 months wait for a NOA2. At this moment, I would say there is a 3-5 month wait for a NOA2. Then allow 2-3 months for visa in hand after that. But who knows how much that will change once you actually submit your application. I would say a year means that you won't get stressed out too much (as I do) when things aren't going as fast as you'd hope

I'll agree with Steve 12 and say that 8 months from receipt of NOA1 to buy a ticket and board the plane for the US.

From our NOA1 (we're in NH so you're in the same geographical area) to the medical and then the following week to the embassy visit will be 7 months and three days. Then it takes a week or so for the Visa to arrive and then it's luck or not as to when you can get a ticket--it may be the next day, or the next month as sometimes trying to buy a ticket on short notice is exorbitantly expensive.

Set up your timeline and the system will update you as to your expected NOA2.

Look about in the forum that serves Ireland and you'll find more particulars for that embassy.

We received the hard copy of NOA1 in the post on May 23rd 2013, we're still waiting for the approval. We sent everything they asked for, but still haven't heard anything from them.

In just over 1 week it will do 5 months since the NOA1, we will call straight away and try to find out why one of our friend who applied for the K1 visa in July, they got the approval and NOA2 4 weeks ago.

We've been in a long distance relationship (Hawaii-UK) for 3 years. I can't wait any longer, I need to move on with my life.

Thanks guys for all your feedbacks and commentaries.
