Ok I have been paged back to this post by concerned Nigerian members who don't want to type what I am about to type. ( I am known for this type of message and the ensuing mess it creates )

You need to run to a yahoo group romance scams and go through their document " they may be a scammer if " because you ARE being taken advantage of. You have had your head filled with the idea that you need to rescue your man from the conditions there and that you have to send all your money after an accident ( I paid for my sister in laws hysterectomy and that cost 600 usd ) You will not be the first woman that has been brain washed by a romance scammer, nor the first one to have actually met their scammer but I can tell you without hesitation you are being scammed . This young man grew up there and the conditions you are so taken aback by are the norm to him. Yes he wants to live the high life and he has enchanted you with sweet words and tales of suffering but it is you that are a victim here not him

Are you joking? This is one of the oldest scams in the book.

First, pay no bills unless you actually SEE a bill. Do not send the money to him or his family directly.

Secondly, call the hospital he is at and confirm he is there.

Lastly, call the police where the accident occurred and ask about it to verify whether it really occurred.

While accidents DO happen, if you weren't there how would he/his family pay the bill? They'd find a way. Do NOT send the money.

Did you call the hospital or was the doctor just "put on the phone?"

I can call you and then say, "here talk to the doctor," and have someone else tell you they are a doctor and that I am sick.

Verify this information independently. Call the hospital on your own accord.

Putting the house as collatoral. Common to say. Same with the friends but "they're still short" so we only need $XXXX.

Did YOU call the hospital or did you call one of his friends/family who "put the doctor on the phone"? Or did you call a mysterious number you were told was the doctors number? Unless you found the number on the internet, and located the doctor yourself, you don't know you spoke to a doctor.

We're trying to protect you. The likelihood you are being scammed is EXTREMELY high. Everything you say is all part of the game.

Just tell them you don't have the money, you wish you could help but you don't have it.

This is a scam, 99% sure it is a scam. If you google on the internet you will find it everywhere. Please verify this independently before you send anything. What will it matter is you wait an hour to send the money while you check things out? Of course they are going to push you to send the money right away, that way you won't have time to discover you've been scammed.

Ask for the name of the hospital and google it for a phone number. Call the hospital yourself. There will be someone there who can speak English, almost all doctors speak English to some degree. Verify the situation.

I just hope your next post isn't about how he died or you can't reach him now that he has taken all your money.

Please do your due diligence. Who called you?

I bet they want it sent Western Union or Moneygram (probably Western Union). Yes in Nigeria you usually have to pay upfront. But when you say all your money what are you taking S1000's of dollars.

He is in serious condition so how did anyone know to call you and have the nerve to ask for money.

This and the I am trapped in a hotel and they have my wallet and passport is the biggest scams going on yahoo scammer groups. Please be wise.

This person that one loves is still “stuck” in a foreign country and can’t wait to get on that plane to finally come home and spend “in real life” time with the true love of their dreams – their future husband or wife. THEN, something terrible, traumatic or catastrophic happens. Some or all of the following stories have been used:

• The scammer or his/her child falls seriously ill or is seriously injured in a car crash while in Nigeria and needs urgent medical attention for his or her or the child’s life to be saved. The victim is contacted by a hospital administrator because the patient is in a coma or unconscious. They will inform the victim that they found a notebook in baggage which has listed the victim as next of kin and as such the victim needs to pay for medical treatment. Without this medical attention, the patient is sure to die.
