Question RE Infopass appt

Hi there, so we would like to make an infopass appt with our local office (Denver) as we are approaching 5 months and NBC are not telling us anything over the phone, so would like some face-to-face info.

When we go on the website to book an infopass, it only give 4 options for reasons to make said appt. It says:

We offer 4 kinds of appointments for a case that you have already filed. Please choose from the following

- Order from Immigration Court - If you were directed to us for processing based on an order from the Immigration Judge. You must bring all documents required in the post order instructions given to you by the court.

- Case Processing Appointment - If you received a notice to go to your local office for further case processing.

- EAD inquiry appointment - If your I-765 employment authorization application has been pending for more than 90 days.

- Case Services follow-up appointment - If it has been over 45 days since you contacted NCSC and have not received a response to your inquiry. You must bring the Service Request ID Number related to your inquiry to the appointment.

None of these sum up why we want an infopass, so does that mean we are unable to have one? Any help appreciated, thanks!

Whenever you want, depends what the reason is for making one and what info you want to find out I guess.

Anyways, if anyone has any insight to my original post, I'd be eternally grateful! Thanks

****I have not done an infopass****

This is info I gathered over the web

Routine enquiry : uscis website :)

If you are out of processing time then service request

If no reply on SR for 45 days then infopass...

I guess infopass can be done without SR for the first three options, I am not sure about the out of processing time though

Someone please do correct me if I am wrong...

Your infopass will only be a waste of time. They will just say it is processing. Not sure how you decided 5 months is the time, since others have been waiting longer. Your timeline says 4 months 2 weeks, btw.

You just have to keep calling until you find someone that is will to talk to you. The local office will look in the same computer and tell you the same information on the screen, They have NO power to do anything with your case. People aren't trying to be impolite they are being honest even if it isn't what you want to hear. There are NO appropraite choises for what you want because it isn't something they work and you ARE wasting their time

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

I am not being mean nor am I mental (?) I am just telling you how it is. Also not accusing you of queue jumping or anything. I think you are overreacting and reading into things in my response that aren't there. Just saying, you will not get any answers at your infopass, and it will be a waste of time. According to VJ estimates you will be approved in November.

The process is opaque and that is frustrating, but infopass isn't going to change that, unfortunately. You are not past official processing times, so there are no answers to be given. Your file is in a box somewhere waiting.

Katie, I feel your pain.. we have the same timeline but instead of wasting your time going all the way to the Immigration office be a thorn in your senators side. The senators office can get the same info and you don't have to drive anywhere. My senators office told me after the first inquiry that they would check every 30 days for me. I'm about to send another email this week. I am not interested in jumping the line either, I only wanted some info so I could sleep at night.. star_smile.gif

Case Services follow-up appointment I have been using this option.

What everyone is telling you is correct. I went to an InfoPass appointment at 5 months and they couldn't tell me anything. The rep sees exactly what we see on the USCIS Case Status site. It was chance to tell them about my husband and our two children and the rep was sympathetic but I was told that average processing time is 8 months. We're at the 7 month mark so maybe we'll hear something soon. You have got to stay positive and try not to make yourself crazy through this process. I have been married for 5 years and I've seen my husband a total of 2 weeks since July 2012 when he met us in Canada. Hang in there!

I just went for an infopass appointment friday just to see if I could find anything. I know I am 'early' but I did want to ask for specifics since tier 2 sucks golf balls through garden hoses. Sadly it was a waste of time really. I brought the noa1 with me. I gave it to him, he took the info and typed it in. I asked where the application is and he said its still at the service center. He said he can't give me specific information / estimates naturally since the file is not in the field office. I swear this application is like one giant game od hide and seek to them. We take your money in 2 days, and now its time to hide!

Since I got screwed over applying for a k-1 I have learned a lot about this process. The bottom line is they don't care about you or I. They don't. You are talking to an entitled brick wall. Each person you talk to makes up to make you feel better about your case and then they go back to whatever it is they are doing.

I too used case services follow-up appointment.

I do agree with the posts about your timeline, however, I also believe there is an advantage of the speaking with someone in person.

there are a dozen screens for these guys to scroll through and there is a very slight chance of having this done over the phone and a much greater chance of having this done in person.

prepare yourself in advance for any challenges you might face including NRC.

at my second infopass I heard those dreaded words, but was able to take action immediately.

generally I scheduled infopasses monthly.. my situation had to do with my wife's name being wrong and service requests not fixing the issue, so I had that excuse.

I say go if it helps you feel like you are doing something.

Do not assume that an infopass will speed up your file, or that you will really learn anything while you are there... if you do.. it is a bonus!
