Hi VJ friends-

When it says: Your obligations under a Form I-864 will end if the person who becomes a permanent resident based on a Form I-864 that you signed:

1. Beneficiary becomes citizen

2. Beneficiary has worked, or can be credited with, 40 quarters of coverage under the Social Security Act;

Does this mean as soon as the beneficiary starts work petitioner's obligation will end on that day, I mean is there a certain amount of hours or months should beneficiary work or as soon as employment starts, its done ?

40 quarters is about 10 years of work. So it's not as soon as someone starts working you're off the hook.

The US social security works on quarters of the year , so after 40 quarters of making a certain amount of reportable income you would be off the hook. It could be 10 years it could be never.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
