Hello,

I have joint bank statements for our checking and savings accounts as part of our ROC package. My question is whether or not I can black out the account number on the statements without them rejecting it as proof. The account clearly has both our names on it and I also have a letter from the bank to back that up. Any thoughts or should I just leave the number showing?

USCIS aka the Federal Government is the one who gives you US permanent residency and/or citizenship aka your US IDENTITY. Identity theft is a non-issue with them. Blacking out info in order for them to ascertain if you are who you say you are is a terrible idea.

I am aware of that, it wasn't for protection against them, more of a precaution in case the package gets lost which has happened before. It's no big deal, I was just asking, I haven't sent it yet. Thank you.

I understand that. I would want to protect it against mail fraud but there's no way to do that. USCIS I'm not worried about.
