Put my packet in the mail today!!! So glad to be on this final step!

In the packet I put -

The check for DHS.

Copy of my GC

Two passport pictures

Copy of my husband's passport

Last three years of our joint tax returns

A bank statement for each of the last three years from our joint statement

A copy of our current lease

We don't have any children yet, and no mortgage. When it comes to the interview I have a bunch more stuff to show but I'm not too concerned. This was the easiest of all the petitions!

Good luck everyone!

I was able to obtain IRS tax return transcripts for 3 years but for the state tax return, California tax office doesn't provide transcripts so can I just send the tax return forms that we filed ?

I thought you are supposed to only send federal tax return transcripts. I don't have anything regarding state taxes.

Also, I am planning to send photocopies of our tax transcripts, and bring the originals that I received from the IRS with me at the time of the interview. Or should I send the originals and request another copy for the interview?

I was planing on sending the original one that IRS sent me and then request another copy for my record. However, you have raised this up so now it's my question too.

I know we are all used to "proving" our relationships up to this point. But at this stage of the game the only thing we have to prove is the time in the U.S.A (3 or 5 years depending on the circumstances of our application.) ... and of course passing the citizenship test! rolleyes.gif

So I don't think there is much to stress about. I just sent what they asked for, no more - no less.

But send what makes you feel comfortable.

What you said is so true. I have just become an American citizen. I had a lovely officer that I was able to chat with and he said the same thing. They have done a lot of their homework, you have stayed legal and not broken any laws - I actually said to him that his job must be a very nice one, seeing all these people that have actually applied, that want to become an American citizen. He loves his job - his only issue was with people that lied on their application and apparently there are more than I could have imagined (I don't suppose they are members of visajourney lol) Often the lies are silly ones that they get caught with. He said the fact that someone has visited Mexico a lot of times is not going to rule them out, they usually have good reason (family ill etc) but to say it - honesty is the most valuable trait at this stage.

Apart from me being impatient the process was fine. I stressed about a test that I had studied for so that was a wasted emotion, I stressed that I would be denied even though I knew there was no reason and I stressed about the checks - I have never been in trouble in my life, the only law I have broken is probably speeding and I don't do that intentionally, so once again stress not worth it.

Going back, the only advice I would give anyone at this stage is send in what they ask when they ask, be patient and enjoy - this is the end of the road :)

make copies and send those...keep the originals for yourself...if they need originals (which i doubt) they will ask...we sent copies of ours...

you are so true saying this is the easiest...your package looks good, i was kinda wanting to send our current lease off too as well, but unfortunately ended up sending the original off with the RoC package...not too worried though, can always provide that at the interview, if neccessary...looking forward to updates from everyone...

I've only ever sent federal returns for all our petitions so I think you are safe!

I was tempted to send our old lease too, since we just moved five months ago, but then I realized that they got our previous lease when we did ROC, so I thought screw it ;) Our packet is so lightweight, but it's a relief!

Lets hope for a speedy end to this last step!

I will just take the lease with me at the interview, don't want to waste so much paper in copies, also they already have it from ROC. I can't wait for Saturday, when my window opens and I will finally place the envelope in the mail
