I sent my application but I just came across a post here asking if we should mention the traffic violation on question 16 in n400 form. I got a traffic violation, it was a very minor traffic violation (not DUI or anything serious), I just missed 1 one of my front lights and the case was dismissed after I got it fixed (it's just like a "fix it" ticket). I didn't mention it on the application. I checked "No" on the question 16. I am confused now if I should've mentioned it. Will that be a problem later ? should I fix it now ?

My understanding is that you can correct it at the time of the interview. I wouldn't try to change it now that you have submitted it.

I agree with newlywed. At the time of your interview the interviewing officer goes through the application line by line to confirm everything you put down, and make updates for anything that has changed. When they get to that part just mention the ticket and all should be fine.

You are not alone, i totally forgot about the 3 minor tickets (all for expired NJ inspection sticker) my wife got all of which didn't require a court appearance and were paid online. We plan on her mentioning them at the interview and from all the posts i have read, it shouldn't be a problem.

Update: received email and text this afternoon that our case was accepted and routed to National Benefits Center for processing and that our I-797 should be received in 7-10 days, it also included the receipt number...

now I'm in the process of getting the court report. I was able to look up my case online from the court's website. I printed that out but not sure if the interviewer will consider the online record as the official one.

the following quote is from page 25 of the M-476 (A guide to naturalization):

Note that unless a traffic incident

was alcohol or drug related, you do not need

to submit documentation for traffic fines and

incidents that did not involve an actual arrest

if the only penalty was a fine of less than

$500 and/or points on your driver’s license.

We dont need to submit it with the package but i think we may need it for the inteview in case the interviewer asking for the proof that we paid the fine. Hopefully they dont ask anything and i just think too much lol

I suppose it couldn't hurt to bring it along to the interview. I really don't think they will have any concern about the traffic violations, so long as they are disclosed at the time of the interview with a brief explanation as to the confusion of whether or not minor traffic violations were to be included on the n-400...anyhows, we both will be fine...

Update: check was cashed this morning

I just got another problem. In the question part B, 10a asking if we have ever joined any club. I totally forgot that I was in science club at school. I totally forgot to mention that in the application. Do you think we need to mention school club ?

Hi everyone! I've been a long time lurker of this forum. I just sent mine. Now that I'm looking at the list of documents many of you have included I'm a bit nervous. I have sent the bare minimum (only our children's birth cert and tax transcript as documents that has both our names), no leases or bank statements :-/ I hope it doesn't get delayed. Good luck everyone!
