Can anybody that went through the interview in Paris could clarify if we need to present the I-134 form or the I-864?

From the embassy letter Frenchwife has posted it looks like it is the I-134, but I am wondering if it is because she did an IR?

Also are tax transcripts enough, and is it ok to have copies instead of originals?

Thanks in advance.

We used the I134 and not the I864. The I864 is for AOS. And we used copies of the tax transcripts.

Thanks SO much for your reply! Then I will use I-134 form, and will bring copies of tax transcripts if I dont get the originals on time for the interview.

Another question, what about the medical exam, did you go through the normal process and paid 170€? Why does everybody say social security and the "mutuelles" dont reimburse, doesnt the doctor give you a "feuille de soins"?

Thanks agains!

I went to see my medecin traitant, give him the list of things to do for the embassy and he made me a prescription to go do x rays, blood tests etc. which i was reimburse for... and then I took an appointment with the embassy doctor saying I made everything already. they gave an appointment in the afternoon instead of in the morning and I paid less, sth like 60 or 80 euros...

Other than that I want to complain about the new law for biometric passports... As this happenned a little bit too fast, consulates are not ready yet...which means if i want to change my name on my passeport or need a new passeport they can't do it by mail anymore. So I'll have to fly four times from Colorado to Los angeles. Once to take my biometrics and then 6 weeks later to get my passeport in person!!!!

Hopefully they'll find a better solution very soon!

There is no rush for you to update your passport for a name change if your passport is still valid. When you travel, you need to show that your maiden name is linked to your married name (this can be done with a marriage certificate). I am dependent of the consulate located in San Francisco and there is talk that some local consulates should get the materials necessary to handle biometrics passports applications. I would check with your consulate before making such a long trip.

I m not in rush to get my name change. I just dropped the idea since they ask me to make the trip now. I m just worried for when my passport will expire...

And I already checked with my consulate and they told me to go to LA and it's also written on their website.

The logical thing for them to do is, as you said, to get some small local consulates handle the biometrics. I just hope it won't take forever to create!

Thanks a lot for your feedback on the medical exam! It looks like you did it last summer.

Do you happen to remember which "embassy" doctor you went to see? Cuz I called Dr Slattery and asked if I could come with all the exams done already and his secretary told me it wasnt possible.

I hope it helps. Let me know! ;)

Unfortunately the only one near Trocadero is Slattery, and when I called they said I need to do everything through them, and no feuille de soins issued.

So I am guessing that for Paris we are kind of screwed to go around the fees!

Maybe the doctor Lucie went to see isn’t part of the embassy panel any more, or maybe he doesn’t accept anymore people trying to go around the system.

In addition of this big medical fee I just found out that I have to do Gardasil, I had no idea. We are looking at another 400€, plus possible complications, and which after talking to my doctor seems to be a useless vaccine in my case.

I am really hating this visa thing, and I am not even half way through, grrrr!

Im sorry to hear that. It was probably Slattery I ve seen. the name sounds familiar. Its probably not possible anymore to go around it...I was lucky on this one!

I feel for you about the gardasil thing. It pissed me off too. USCIS are on trial for that, lots of immigrants complained about being the guinea pig for this vaccines.

I got lucky on this one too. I had my GC interview after I turned 27. How old r you? Is it compulsory to enter the US now?

About Gardasil I dont have a choice, I am 24 y/o so there is no way I can avoid it. My only relief is to think that if there is any bad side effect on me I will sue Merck's and the US governement, and with their crazy law system there I might win and become a multi-billionaire, lol!

There is a waiver available and it costs money. But it is an option... You have to apply for it and explain why you don't want to get the vaccines, can be personal or religious beliefs. I have read of one person going that route, it took an extra 1-2 months but it was approved.

That's interesting. It might be worth it considering that it's pointless to have the vaccination once you've had sexual relationships. Can you find the link for everyone?

Sure, here it is. You can apply under bullet number 2: Applicants Requesting a Waiver of the VaccinationRequirements of INA 212(a)(1)(A)(ii). The form costs $185, not as bad as I thought.

I believe that if you do a search on VJ, few cases will pop up.

My previous post is wrong. The correct form is I-601, not I-690. I may be wrong again.

A thing I dont understand about this vaccine and makes me suspicious is, both my generaliste and gynecologist in France told me it's useless once you had sexual relationship, but when I talk about it with a doctor here in the US, they all say it's a great vaccine and that every women should get it even if you had sexual relationship before.... <_<

What's going on here???

They get paybacks from pushing certain vaccines... It is a money business in this country (unfortunately). It is similar to the H1N1 vaccine, barely tested but everybody is pushing for it.
