lol Your family lives in the Sud-Ouest too? My family lives in the Charente Maritime. Haha about the Rosetta stone...I got the Rosetta Stone to my hubby about a year ago and he has been trying to do it every single day. He does say that it is hard sometimes about how Rosetta doesn't explain why a sentence structure is such and such. Maybe your hubby got frustrated and just gave up. You should tell him that you are willing to help him out as long as he studies half hour each day (or at least few times a week). If you stop a week or more, it is counterproductive as he may forget what he learned and just have to start over. Or you can try bribing him!

Paris is okay and all but it is not representative of France, I am sure he will have a better time with you this time. :)

Yes Toulouse, the Gers and the Pyrenees.

I do agree that Paris isn't all that reprensentative of what France is about but it's worth seeing (plus I have family there too).

I'm impressed at your husband dedication. Hubby hasn't been passed chapter 3 I think, of course he had to restart because of our new computer, but it can't hurt him in my opinion.

I've tried bribes, threats, everything. He just doesn't take the time for it. I think he is just too tired from his work and not too talented with language so... yeah.

According to VJ stats, the average time between Franch Consulate

Receiving Information from NVC and Actual Interview is 55 days.

Well that's average... I guess it depends a lot on how you're prepared for packet 3.

Last significant immigration event:

ROC: Approved : 04/17/2013

Just got back from France and got to use my Green Card for the first time. I was surprised to be asked for the Green Card everywhere at the airport: departure from the US, departure from France and then as expected arrival.

They also still take fingerprints and photo which I was not expecting, but hey it's still nice to skip the long line of visa and visa waiver travelers.

It was also fun to bring my husband with me to France for the first time (his 2nd time in France but 1st with me) and have him meet the family.

Glad to hear you had a good trip. At my airport, they made green card holders go through the visitor lane. Oh well.

Kittykat, you also need your passport and a customs declaration form. If the name in your passport is different than the one on your green card, bring your marriage certificate.

AOS Approved on 10-17-08 (details in profile)

Removal of Conditions on 07-19-10

In this tedious process, we tend to forget that this is all worth it.

I love my hubby beyond anything in this world.

Charlotte is a smaller airport, although still international, it makes life easier.

My passeport was in my maiden name (therefore so was my plane ticket), it did not seem to bother the immigration officer that passeport and GC where not in the same, but maybe I was lucky.

Can anybody that went through the interview in Paris could clarify if we need to present the I-134 form or the I-864?

From the embassy letter Frenchwife has posted it looks like it is the I-134, but I am wondering if it is because she did an IR?

Also are tax transcripts enough, and is it ok to have copies instead of originals?

Thanks in advance.

We used the I134 and not the I864. The I864 is for AOS. And we used copies of the tax transcripts.

Thanks SO much for your reply! Then I will use I-134 form, and will bring copies of tax transcripts if I dont get the originals on time for the interview.

Another question, what about the medical exam, did you go through the normal process and paid 170€? Why does everybody say social security and the "mutuelles" dont reimburse, doesnt the doctor give you a "feuille de soins"?

Thanks agains!

Yes, you have to pay for the medical. You go to a special doctor and they don't give you a feuille de soins. They do your "physical examination" then send you go do some x-rays and blood test, then you go back to the first doctor and you pay him.

I went to see my medecin traitant, give him the list of things to do for the embassy and he made me a prescription to go do x rays, blood tests etc. which i was reimburse for... and then I took an appointment with the embassy doctor saying I made everything already. they gave an appointment in the afternoon instead of in the morning and I paid less, sth like 60 or 80 euros...

Other than that I want to complain about the new law for biometric passports... As this happenned a little bit too fast, consulates are not ready yet...which means if i want to change my name on my passeport or need a new passeport they can't do it by mail anymore. So I'll have to fly four times from Colorado to Los angeles. Once to take my biometrics and then 6 weeks later to get my passeport in person!!!!

Hopefully they'll find a better solution very soon!
