I was also sad to see the RosaMystica7's journey timeline which has been actually fast.

I was just poking my head in to say hello... and wow, I'm happy to see that this post is still here after all this time. Well, my Frenchie and I have been separated since August, will be divorced when I can afford it. I hope all of you have happier stories than I did. Anyone here still from my time on VJ that remembers me? I'm kinda curious. ^_^

i was not here, but that's a sad to hear that a story ends after all that "pain" and efforts that visa journey requires.

can anyone tell me the approx fees for the last step of the process (medical + visa fee) and if there is anything else to pay for

Medical : 160 euros (non remboursé par la Sécu)

Visa : 107,42 euros (mandat postal à apporter à l'ambassade)

Enveloppe chronopost : 15 euros approx.

Je crois que c'est tout. pour cette étape.

After sending 2nd fax myself last midnight (5 fax for this package 3 total). I got a phone call from US embassy in paris today. a nice lady told me my fiancee can pick up the package 3 for Friday morning. finally some good news. thank you for the encouragement!!

Hooray! Congrats...

Tomorrow, I have an appt to visit the consul at the Seattle office. I need to renew my carte nationale d'identite which happened to expire yesterday lol. :P

To make a long story short, leave your message to the voicemail in English and you will get a much quicker answer. They do have people speaking french but I don't think they work everyday and it takes forever to hear back. That... and nobody ever seems to pick up the phone.

I will make a quick post to detail the experience if anybody is interested. :)

I'm sorry to hear this Angilla. I still remember you; you're the one who started this thread after all and you were good support for me when I started going through the whole process.

I guess finances are not at their best still for you. I hope it will improve soon and that you'll get a better path in life with or without a new frenchy.

It's still nice to hear from you even if the news could be better.

hello all,

I received my employment autorization and my advance parole last week!

I start a part time paid internship on Friday:) I applied late february and they contacted me mid March. They wanted someone starting in April. I told them I was waiting for my work autorization that should come mid April. I got the EAD on time so everything is ok!

Also I got my driving license last Thursday (I had a learner's that past month). We bought a car so now I can move around easily (well as much as the insane DC metro area traffic allows me to)!

Jeff did Melody went to the embassy? does she have her interview apointement already? Things are moving on for you it's great! we should celebrate with happy hours drink in DC when she eventually arrives :)

RosaMystica I'm sorry to hear it didn't work. I hope you're moving on and doing ok.

à plus,

Wow! Congratulation it went very fast! And good luck on your new job! what are you going to do?

Here, in Denver things are very slow... It s been 7 months i applied for my GC and nothing, I dont know what to do to speed up the process

Still no job either... :(

So, anyway, last Friday I got to try my AP, at the Chicago airport back from France! It was a pain! the lady at customs was very suspicious, and yell at me because I had only two AP papers, and she told me that it s normally three! 'stupid'...I never heard of anyone getting three papers for the AP....Did you?

Did you have fun in France Lucie? Did you go alone or with your husband? how long did you stay there?

My parents are coming to the USA in June! First they will go see the canyons in the West and then they will come spend a week in St. Louis.

About my green card, I had an RFE for my medical (didn't submit any medical, had to do a complete one), I sent it back two weeks ago I believe, and they just updated my status online, now it shows that they received my RFE (before that they never said anything about the RFE)

Ho! it s crazy that they just sent you a RFE... that s probably whats going to happen to me too soon...When you say you had to do a complete one, what do you mean? they ask you to do more than just the vaccines paper?

Well, now that they got it, they probably going to send you an interview letter soon!

In France, helas, I didn t have much fun...I went without Damon and I went there because my dad just had a quatriple bypass and a "carotide" surgery, poor him...doctors says he s going to feel like ####### for 6 months to a year.. I spent all my days at the hospital with him, so he was not too bored... But it gave me the opportunity though to see again all my family and friends, and eat good cheese and pastry! ^_^

Pour les impots francais, je ne men suis pas encore occupe, donc je ne peux t aider, mais des que je m y met, je te tiens au courant de ce que jai fait! ;)

Sorry for your dad, I hope his recovery will be fine. It's good that you got to spend time with him and the rest of your family.

For the RFE, they didn't clearly say "please do the entire medical again" but they said a few thing that made me (and Bryan) think that yes, they did want the entire one. They wrote that they reviewed my file and they have no medical forms in them: no I-693, no DS-3025, etc. Then they talk about how they want people to do the tuberculosis skin test, etc. After reading the paper 5 or 6 times I figured I'd do the entire medical just to be safe.

Yeah! you were definatly right to do the all thing again just to be safe. But it s so unfair that USCIS seems to lose very often DS3025 papers! Do they know how much it cost to do that!

Let us know as soon as you hear back from them! Hopefully soon with an interview letter! ;)

Did I mention I didn't get an interview for the AOS?

A propos des impots je suis dessus aussi.. je vais essayé d'appeler aujourd'hui je vais poser la question pour quand on a un mari étranger.

About my job/internship I do some research for a consulting company involved in international development. I work in English but have to read a lot in French too since part of my work is about Senegal. It finishes end of June and then I really don't know what I'll do. But for now I'm just really glad I found something.

for the AP I also received 2 copies, that lady who asked for 3 didn't know her job.

well, bon week end à tous!!
