Other question (I wanted to edit my first post but apparently I can't...) :

Good luck on your journey

Starfish!

hi everyone,

im a little new here I guess. I'm American and my husband is French. We applied for the ir-1/cr-1 visa and it seems that as of the 26th it has been expedited to Paris. I don't see many on here who have gone the same route as us (most are k-1/k-3 or adjustment of status?) but I was wondering if anyone could tell me if they know anything about cases similar to mine, how it works, or anything? also, how is the embassy in paris? is it busy? are they nice? about how long does it take to get an interview? have you heard of anyone getting AP?

any advice would be appreciated :)

merci a bientot

Hello! And welcome!

You're right, I don't think we have any CR1 in here.

Though I think, if you have the courage, it's probably the good way to go.

I would say that french consulate is fair, probably easy compared to the ones in south america or africa but not as easy as some other european countries.

It's also a slow one, once you are approved expect 2 months for the next part, until the visa. It can be shorter, it can be longer, it all depends on their work load, and it's a very busy consulate.

No, they're not really nice there, but not bad neither, they're professionnal. If you are well prepared the interview is not a big deal.

I'm going to sound harsh but if your husband is french, as in born from french parents, and has no criminial history, the chance you guys are put in AP are close to 0.

Now if he is muslim, born from northern africa immigrants, it will be different.... I'm sorry, but it's just the way it is...

Don't worry too much. This process is really stressing, we all went through it and now we can tell you that for the most part we did inflicted this stress on ourselves.

Don't read VJ horror stories too much. ;)

Good luck.

Thanks so much for your quick response!

We had originally gone the way of the K3 visa, but it ended up that our I-130 for the ir-1/cr-1 was approved first, so they kinda chose for us. In the end I don't really care which we got, as long as this process ends well -- and soon! :)

Thanks for the advice about the horror stories, it's true, they make the stress level rise. But none of the stories I read concern France, so I decided to come to you guys for advice directly. I had heard that because we expedited our case then the embassy would be responsible for final review and that we run the risk of AP because the NVC hasn't done a full review. I'm confident that we have given them all of the necessary paperwork so I'm hoping and praying that it'll be okay.

I assumed it was a slow consulate just because I don't hear much about it. hmmm. maybe they don't have a large workload lately and they can process our case quickly? :)

I can deal with professional. Always beat mean.

And yes, hubby is born French and so were his parents and the rest of his family, so no issues there.

It's true that the process is so stressful, but it helps to talk with others who have gone through it, so thank you again :)

Write the current address. You will write your new address on the AOS papers. For now put whatever is accurate at the time you fill the papers.

I was wondering what address I should write on the DS230 form? As it's written "if known", does that mean that I don't have to write one? Can I give them my definite address in July-August?
