Hah, it hit you before it hit me, I've been hysterical crying since 5am and I can't stop!

Flight tip: PARIS AIRPORT DOESN'T TAKE CHECKS! So if you need to pay extra to bring an extra bag, or to bring a bag over the weight limit, have euros on you. My fiance had a check from his mom, they wouldn't take it. Good thing his dad was there, his dad gave him the euros. If his dad hadn't been there... we would've been in trouble lol.

And they require to see the brown envelope before you board the plane. They didn't open his, they just needed to see that he had it.

*Hands out tissues*

Don't cry too much or you'll have albinos eyes :P

And don't worry, now that you'll be together you can start things really and get used to be with each other again, in a very short time the past month will only be a blurry dream.

Have a great time together. :)

And Boston-Paris: congratulations to the two of you!

It's good to hear that things work out.

Bonjour!

I am the USC of the couple. My husband is French and the best thing that's ever happened to me. It's great to see a thread like this. We are at the start of the process, but sadly, he was deported last month. Yeah, I'm close to losing my mind as it will be a long process for us. We fought so much to keep him here, but other circumstances came up and it was impossible, so we will shoot for the DCP once the I-130 is approved. It's so incredibly hard being away from him. :(

We met online last year and I think we loved each other before we actually laid eyes on each other. We created a blended family between my two children and his daughter. Second marriages for both; you know, second chances. He's from Bordeaux, or "the land of the wine," as he told me once. He has tried to teach me French, but it's definitely hard. It's definitely much easier to understand it written. I just love listening to him speak it with his daughter or his mom. He also is fluent in Spanish, which is my first language, so we have two languages we use. It's fun. :)

Good luck to all the couples here. It really helps to read your stories and it makes me feel encouraged about this whole process, which is so overwhelmingly draining. It's good to know that I am not the only one who is crazy over her husband being gone. I hope it only makes us stronger. (L)

I don't know why, but I've been thrilled to meet other French/American couples here on VJ. I know there's a French-speaking thread here but lots of countries speak French... I'm curious to meet other couples where the foreign fiance(e) is in or came from France.

For the French/American couples here, where in France does/did the Frenchie live? Does the USC speak French, and if not, is (s)he learning? My fiance lives in Rambouillet. I managed to learn some French during his last visit but without having him pointing to things and being able to watch his mouth I'm just clueless... guess I'll have to wait til he's here again to learn. Written French is similar to Italian at times so I can figure some of it out. But spoken, hoo boy... I joke with my fiance a lot that the letter R needs to be obliterated from the French alphabet because I can't figure out how on earth to pronounce it!

Hi there,

How do you add the flags and your timeline right on to your posts?

thanks,

Claudia :)

My boyfriend and I finally decided to file for a K1 visa. He gave me a paper promise 'ring' because I didn't want to believe it.

I'm excited.

Now the work starts: gathering documents and filling them. I'll update as soon as there is something new.

Welcome Claudia! Did bostonparis' answer help answer your question? I'm sorry to hear your husband got deported... hopefully he wasn't banned from re-entering? I hope the visa process goes quickly for you both. (F)

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay Cécile, congratulations! I had a feeling you two would end up doing that. :D :D

All's well with Saint-Clair and I. My time off from work starts next Wednesday, April 4th - 16th. All in that time we'll be moving into our awesome new apartment... job hunting with his temp EAD... and getting married. :D We've settled in well and it's just such a relief to have him here. I love him. I probably won't be around much just because I'm, err, pre-occupied  but I'll try to check in whenever I can. :)
