Old I-864 example is obsolete

For filling out the form I-864, for part 3, it states: "indicate if you are sponsoring the principal immigrant listed in part 2". Then it states: "this only applies to cases with two joint sponsors".

I am the only sponsor, so do I leave it blank? The example in forms is outdated.

If you are sponsoring him, you would check "yes", because the (applies only to cases with two joint sponsors) is in referral to the "no" option

Also, it was confusing for me, but remember the form is read from the left side down, then back up the right and down again

Yes, they have released some new editions of forms recently, so the example forms show the older ones. However, on the example form, Part 3 #8 is exactly the same as Part 3 #1 on the new form. You check Yes, because you are indeed sponsoring the immigrant listed in Part 2. The No option is only applicable to those cases in which you can have 2 or more joint sponsors. That does not apply to you.
