FYI about BID, NVC and Checklist said it was needed but I didn't see it and when I found the below in the FAQ's about DS260 it isn't mentioned so not sure if it is or isn't.

DS-260 Immigrant Visa Electronic Application - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Important Notice: Only immigrant visa applicants applying at certain U.S. embassies and consulates where NVC requested fees or documents in October 2010 or later may use the DS-260, Online Immigrant Visa Application. Review Online Immigrant Visa Forms to learn whether you should use the online DS-260 form, as well as more important information.

Review the FAQs below if you must complete the online DS-260 form.

What do I need to complete and submit forms online?

You must have:

  • Internet access
  • Your NVC Case Number (refer to the message you received from NVC)
  • Your Invoice I.D. number (refer to the message you received from NVC

@ GabbyBird not ceasing to amaze you is putting it nicely, I keep telling myself that one day we'll all laugh about this but I'm not so sure I will ever be able to laugh about it knowing other people are still dealing with this. Have a great weekend guys hope next week brings better news.

Ugh. I had to "vent" somewhere. I am absolutely sitting on pins and needles here. After months and months of waiting (nearly a year, in fact) we finally got our Indian PCC and it's on its way to NH. I am obsessively checking India Post to see where it is. As much as I love you people and lurking on this thread, I hope that I will bid you a freakin dieu this soon.

Hi:

I applied for my wife in Jordan with the NVC through electronic processing. I have sent all the documents they have requested. Today I got a respond from them telling me the marriage certificate is from the incorrect issuing authority. I do not know why because It is a certified English copy issued from the civil status & passport dept. of Jordan with all the seals and stamps. I called the NVC and the customer support told me to resend it again and it will take a month to review it. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he told me that no one is available and he took my number and he will have them call me. No one called and I called again to speak to a supervisor and the second one told me the same thing that no one is there. Yet he told me that what they need is my Islamic Arabic Shareea certificate, not what I sent. It was shocking for me because as much as I read about documents required that the marriage certificate should not be in a foreign language in which I have in Jordan but I am scare it is a waste of time. Any one can tell me what to do please???

The "beneficiary id" was on the first email I received when invoiced.

Also think I made a mistake on my ds 260 to top it all off. at the end it asks for case number and another number I think it asked for beneficiary id number? I put invoice number again the one I used to sign in. According to my Checklist it syasy I need to enter the b number somewhere if someone has done this or is doing it can you confirm this as I would like to know if I screwed up.

I see more people on here talking about getting checklists for items that are already in the package or for items that should be accepted but aren’t for some random reason. It seems rather convenient that sending you a checklist moves your processing time out another 30 days, sends your file to the bottom of the pile, and provides a processing milestone for the worker – since they get to then remove one more paper DS-230 from the system. It eliminates one more paper DS-230 because the applicant would be required to file the online DS-260. I don’t doubt for a minute that the NVC is pushing the processors to knock out the remaining paper DS-230’s as fast as possible.

I’ve been working for the government long enough to know that some high-level bureaucrat somewhere at the NVC will take credit for “improving the efficiency” of the NVC processing system by implementing the online DS-260 process. They will most likely get some type of performance bonus, while we all get another 30+ days of waiting. They will get to go home to their family tonight, while many of us get to go online and Skype with our family tonight.

The more I learn and the more I think about this process, the more I believe whole-heartedly that this entire immigration system is broken. It needs a complete overhaul from top to bottom. The main focus of the system should shift from preventing marriage and immigration fraud to preventing families from being apart. If the system was overhauled with a “Family First, Remember Who We Work For” core philosophy, then I believe many of the current problems would be resolved. Of course, they still need to be able to detect marriage and immigration fraud but they need to strike a balance between that mandate and ensuring American taxpayers are kept apart from their loved ones for as little time as possible.

According to NVC's site for Jordan (http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_5455.html?cid=8983#docs) on marriage certificates:

"Available. Obtainable from the Sharia Courts for Moslems and the churches for Christians. No civil marriage is performed in Jordan and no civil marriage certificate is acceptable."

Is that where you got yours, the one you sent to NVC?

Hi:

First I would like to thank you for your respond to my concern. I submitted a certified copy of an original English marriage certificate that was issued from the Civil Dept. in Jordan based on the Islamic certificate issued to us. And when the NVC required the certificate they asked for an original marriage certificate or a certified copy and I wish they could be more specific about their requirement. So am I suppose to send this Arabic Islamic certificate without being translated as the rep. from the NVC mentioned to me. Once again thank you for your input.

Most likely yes. If you're fluent (or your spouse is fluent, or has a friend who is fluent) in both languages they can translate. Double check in your regional forum perhaps to see what exactly is needed. Most of the time if the document is in the official language of the country in which the interview will be taking place, no translation is necessary. There are a few exceptions of course.

That's completely correct. Just because they are using the DS-261 now doesn't mean they'll accept the choice of agent any faster than they did before. Still expect 2-3 weeks from doing the DS-261 to getting an invoice for the IV bill. Oh and sometimes you can see it on the IV page but not pay it yet on the payment portal for a few days. That's normal.
